All I can say is WOW!!! I was sitting here and the music was playing, and my husband says, "What is that...that sounds awesome!" He got up off of the couch and came over to the computer to listen to it. He thinks it is great, too.

...it would be very cool to keep sharing your tracks. I know there are a few other people on board here who are interested in doing home recording stuff as high quality as possible, sharing idea etc.

So, GNX3? Could you walk me through the process? Was it fairly simple? How' is work up loaded? Is it possible to upload work to a friend, they bring it down, add something then send it back?

I've heard good things about the 3 and GREAT things about the GNX4 and I need help getting my wife to let me add to my toy collection.

Critique: The piece is very cool and sets a nice mood. There's a warm tension and release to it but I kept looking for a tempo change.

Keep it up!

As a matter of fack it is quite simple, I usually start out with a rhythm and record it onto the 3, i then choose the bass setting and record on top of the rhythm, then i put a lead to it.. after all that is done i replay the whole thing using the playback feature. If i don't like something, i just erase the track and re-record that track.
Then i will listen to it a few more times before deciding if it's worth keeping or scrapping...
If i like it, then i upload it to a 28mb smartmedia card
then comes the fun part.....I then upload from the smartmedia card onto the computer and begin editing, (currently using cakewalk and guitar tracks pro)
there is where i can set levels, pan, echo, chorus, and a variety of other things.
Once mixdown is complete i will listen to it a few more times...(by this point i'm startin to get sick of hearin it) I average 10 times on repeat.
then i will slow down the entire tempo, listening for the smallest mistake, if i hear one, i.e the lead
comes in a milisecond too soon...then i just slide it over to match..
As far as the critique, thanx.....VERY few of my CLEAN songs have a tempo change, the reason for this is that when i or someone else puts lyrics to it there isnt any way for them or me to put a repeat chorus into it,,(i that)
As far as my harder stuff...there are a few that are set up for chorus.
Believe it or not....the whole process is pretty quick, I'f i have nothing better to do i can come up with 3-4 originals a day
And when it comes to editing and mixdown, i average between 30-45min a song
this song was one of my quickest....from thought process to cd only took me 30min...
I'm allways lookin to play/jam.....if your interested gimme a pm and we can set sumthin up, He!! maybe even record sumthin.

I don't understand...

VERY few of my CLEAN songs have a tempo change, the reason for this is that when i or someone else puts lyrics to it there isnt any way for them or me to put a repeat chorus into it

...so you can't do drum tempo A, say, as the opening measure, repeat it for verse one, then punch tempo B for a break, back to A for verse 2 and then back to perhaps the break tempo for a chorus or perhaps tempo 3?

I live up in Frederick County which is why I'm curious if there is a way people can send, say your guitar rythm 1 and bass track, to me, then I download it, add a lead track or rythm 2, back to you and so on, a collaborative work?

I'm playing along with what you uploaded and just noodling with it.

It would be cool on this forum for people to check out how we or whoever is doing, step by step, and see a song come together.

What do you think of...

...an acoustic over top of that piece? I'm kinda mirroring, up the neck, playing with positions, doubling the rythm an octave up and throwing in some licks...

I listened to it last night and I couldn't describe it in words, but Larry just did 100%. I liked it but as Larry said, I was looking for a tempo change. You have lots of talent hollow, keep up the hard work.

yeah i could do a tempo change, i just choose not to. but if you are interested........i have 6-7 more clean originals and 4 that are unfinished....if ya wanna play with em i could send ya some.
I was selling some of my work and the stuff i don't sell i usually send to XM and let them load it onto their "unsigned" channel.

Let's see if we can make something happen...

...in the future. For now, I gotta get me a GNX4 or something to even be able to work on it, right?

no....if i send it to you then you could save it to your hard drive, then if your using cakewalk for example you could bring it up in that,
then through midi you can record staight to the computer
when your done with it, send it back to me.....i'll load it onto my smartmedia card, then upload it onto my gnx3, put something else on it then send it back to ya
