...it would be very cool to keep sharing your tracks. I know there are a few other people on board here who are interested in doing home recording stuff as high quality as possible, sharing idea etc.
So, GNX3? Could you walk me through the process? Was it fairly simple? How' is work up loaded? Is it possible to upload work to a friend, they bring it down, add something then send it back?
I've heard good things about the 3 and GREAT things about the GNX4 and I need help getting my wife to let me add to my toy collection.
Critique: The piece is very cool and sets a nice mood. There's a warm tension and release to it but I kept looking for a tempo change.
Keep it up!
As a matter of fack it is quite simple, I usually start out with a rhythm and record it onto the 3, i then choose the bass setting and record on top of the rhythm, then i put a lead to it.. after all that is done i replay the whole thing using the playback feature. If i don't like something, i just erase the track and re-record that track.
Then i will listen to it a few more times before deciding if it's worth keeping or scrapping...
If i like it, then i upload it to a 28mb smartmedia card
then comes the fun part.....I then upload from the smartmedia card onto the computer and begin editing, (currently using cakewalk and guitar tracks pro)
there is where i can set levels, pan, echo, chorus, and a variety of other things.
Once mixdown is complete i will listen to it a few more times...(by this point i'm startin to get sick of hearin it) I average 10 times on repeat.
then i will slow down the entire tempo, listening for the smallest mistake, if i hear one, i.e the lead
comes in a milisecond too soon...then i just slide it over to match..
As far as the critique, thanx.....VERY few of my CLEAN songs have a tempo change, the reason for this is that when i or someone else puts lyrics to it there isnt any way for them or me to put a repeat chorus into it,,(i that)
As far as my harder stuff...there are a few that are set up for chorus.
Believe it or not....the whole process is pretty quick, I'f i have nothing better to do i can come up with 3-4 originals a day
And when it comes to editing and mixdown, i average between 30-45min a song
this song was one of my quickest....from thought process to cd only took me 30min...
I'm allways lookin to play/jam.....if your interested gimme a pm and we can set sumthin up, He!! maybe even record sumthin.
