Well I know all that....I just want to make sure that there isn't a special tool size for this....

and that there isn't a certain torque that should be on there so that the blade doesn't come flying off when I cut my grass(that would really suck)
Tighten it until it smokes and then back it off a quarter of a turn and voila........

blade broke :ohwell:

I've never replaced one before....So, am I going to need any special tools for this repair?
I never broke one before, bent a lot. Get the blade and we'll fix you up this pm if you haven't done it already. A big crescent wrench or box/open of the right size is all you need. They leave crop circles if they come off so pretty much almost as tight as you can get it. Then you still can get it off next time.

BROKE? WTF??? Like 1/2 the blade is GONE??? I'd like an explanation and some detail here. Blades don't just 'break'.

I'm thinking that you helping her with her mower will ensure there are no "paybacks" from her for the "incident" that occurred at Solomons Pier.

You mean "hoping". :lmao:
And she doesn't need help, just tech support. Torque specs, tools needed, etc. Run her over the big crescent wrench. Makes it much easier. So do kevlar gloves to hold whats left of the blade.

BROKE??? A broken blade??????????????????????

It wasn't the blade....it was the blade housing(the peice that holds the blade onto the shaft)....

took it off....went to Sears in Wildewood(what a joke) and they said it was going to be at least 4-6 weeks for me to get the part after I call the 800 number and order it :ohwell:

No problem lady. I bet if you shopped around online you can find the part and have it sooner.

They must have a very different design than most. On all that I've had the shaft is threaded and there is a nut that holds the blade on. Sometimes a washer. I take back all my advice on tools etc. Apparantly you figured it out though.
