I'm running Vista on this new Dell Laptop

And when I'm typing, after about 20 seconds, the cursor automatically pops up to where the mouse cursor was sitting.

So for example, my mouse cursor is siting in this Threads title, and I was typing here. It would pop up to the title and I would be typing in the title.

yielding:
Help - my mouse is drivi would be typing in the titleng me nuts

any help very much appreciated ...

Curiosity, is this the first laptop you've ever used? I would think by the way your describing things that your palm may be accidently touching the touchpad at some point.

I have the same problem with my HP laptop!!!

I've noticed that to, not often tho. I'm running XP and FireFox. It's always with FireFox that it happens, whether I'm typing here or in my email. It always pops back to the last field you were typing in.
Desktop, no trackpad.

I was working on someone's brand new DELL Inspiron laptop with Vista and it tried the same thing.

I am officially upgrading Vista from an annoyance to a piece of chit that needs to be recalled. Between my friends and all my family memebers who have Vista, I've seen a lot more problems than not.

Boy your not lying.

I can’t understand why it was such a HUGE change from XP/2000 to this Vista. New menu structures on virtually every application. New logic on every program.

I have a Dell Inspirion with XP and it does it when I'm using the pad too. I bought a compact standard mouse for it, and it doesn't happen anymore. Like others mentioned, I believe I was accidentally activating some pre-set macro with my hand and/or combination of keys. Very easy to do. The laptop mouse pad is very sensitive.
