Well that's about retarded. Yes, I have 2 holes in each ear....but I chose to have them pierced. The dog can't tell you whether or not he wants it done. And you can't equate piercing ears to slicing off large chunks of ear....

Don't do it...it is cruel. There's no point to it...it's just cosmetic. I wouldn't want someone to cut up my ears just because it looks a certain way. Besides, I think they're cuter when they're natural.

Nope his ears are not done yet. The ol' lady and I are in disagreement about this. She doesn't want to get them done. She says it is inhumane and cruel. I say why get a min pin if you are not going to make him look like one.

It is a very bloody, painful form of butchery to crop a dogs ears. Are you prepared to change the dressings, tape them so they stand up (there are no guarantees they will) and if you have a weak stomach-the smell will have you running to the bathroom to barf.
Maybe you should do some research into the procedure first...please reconsider what YOU want for the sake of the dog.

I agree! Had several litters of German Shepherds and then had a litter of a breed of dog that needed their tails docked. Heard those poor babies cry for 2 days! I will never do that again. Had my male neutered and female spayed and now everyone is happy! Just to have something done for cosmetic reasons is something I personally can't do to a critter. And it is a shame that for breed standards in shows it is required. Of course you can't leave a min pins ears undone and expect to be able to show it and be competitive. I'm curious how shows in UK are going - I thought I heard they had banned docked tails and ear cropping in all show dogs?
