My Onery Kitty

yeah yeah
So, we took a kitten from the litter a friend had. Now, here is my dilemma.

She has been here a little over a month. However, she still will crap out side of the litter box. Not every time, as she uses the litter box to poop too. Always pee's in the litter box. I would have thought that the first couple of days- being in a new place- sure. Yet, this is to long.

She went for her check up and shots at the vet 2 weeks ago. I asked them then what to do, they said that we should get another litter box and put it in another area with a different litter. So- we have 3 litter boxes and have them in different areas, along with different litter. But, still crapping in both litter box and out.

Any ideas? :cds:

She does not have worms. She is not sick. She has been checked. Nothing wrong. I have caught her a couple times- and put her in the litter box during the act and then praise her while she is there. I cannot catch her every time.

Any feedback would be awesome!

Oh she is pooping outside the litter box because she is trying to entice a playmate to come and play. Maybe she needs a playmate  I know someone that has a few kittens that could maybe help you out.

Katelin

one day the dark will end
She sounds young,,,
I would suggest, putting her in a cat condo after you feed her and at night and when you are at work.
In condo: water, litter box.
In a small space she will learn to use the box...and she is a kitten...
Like potty training for tots...accidents happen..so retrain her using a condo.

Good Luck!

She is 15 weeks old. We do have a playmate for her. We have another cat. He has never ever pooped outside of the litter box. The vet told us to have a litter box for each cat, + 1 more litter box per the amount of cats. So that equals 3 which we have.

We have heard how cats are particular about litter. So- we have tried various kinds.(walmart brand, a multi-cat brand, yesterdays news, clumping, non-clumping, etc) We have heard how they are particular about it being extremely clean- We clean the litter box's twice a day- so that is not the issue.

I might have to try the locking in a bathroom thing. I read something about that- about how they have to be trained. And let out about every 3 hrs to play or whatever. I just didnt know if it would work. Yet, I will exhaust the effort. Because we surely do not want to get rid of her.

I am just going nuts over what to do.

:yeahthat: worked for my shelter kitty that was using litter box most of the time but not all the time - usually was pooping over the edge of the litter box until her BED was next to the box and she had nothing to sleep on when she pooped over the edge and it landed on her bed - all cured and now she runs the house and has NO issues :yahoo: - thank goodness !
