My poor doggie

Ehesef, while that's not good news, your pup can live with this for awhile.
Someday the pain will get bad and then you can consider your alternative.
We had a 150 lb St Bernard who lived for years until he couldn't get up and down the steps anymore to go outside. When the vet said the pain could no longer be controlled we had resigned ourselves to that fact. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do..Then had to do it again with a later dog who had tumors..
Well, as long as they can control the pain, I will keep him around, but like my earlier post, when the big lug is so far gone that he's having major problems, then it will be time to end his suffering. I wish you guys could see him. He's huge, but the sweetest dog I've ever seen. He's a beautiful, show quality rottie. The only thing that bugs me is that because of this, we can't use him as a stud anymore, so we won't be getting a puppy that he sired...No one is going to want to breed their dog with him because of this hip thing.

Thats the same thing Jax's had....remember we had to put her to sleep. She couldnt even walk at all....it was horrible.
But you guys had Jax for a while right? Even after her hip thing was diagnosed? She was a pretty GSD, too bad she hated everyone but you guys

We had her for about 3 months or so after she was diagnosed.... It is very common in German Shepards though...they seem to get it worse.

The vet must have been wrong. The dog had a vet appt at 4:30 yesterday, but Bubba died yesterday afternoon before we could get him there.

I am SO sorry for your loss. They say time will heal the pain, yet it has been a year since I lost my dog and I still think about him daily.

Sorry to hear this...I have heard dogs howling for a couple days.

Someone has a yellow lab that has been coming into our yard and getting into our trash. Between him and the visits from Droopy and Ashes, our dogs have been going nuts. They don't like other dogs in the yard.

Thanks everybody. He's in a better place now. J is very upset, but it'll get better with time.

After you called last night and told me I told A what happened...he thought it was Biscuit you had died.

No Biscuit is alive and well. Kinda missing Bubba too. He went to play with him and was just looking around like "Where's my friend?" It was very sad.

E, what do you plan to do with Bubba's remains? I've always left my cats at the vet (and wondered if they were lying to me and secretly shipping them off to vet schools for experiments) and more recently caught a blast of #### for tossing my beloved bird in the trash can.

I know a guy whose dog died recently and he had her cremated and she is in a little box with her name on it now.
We buried him last night, back in the woods where he liked to play.

That's a pretty powerful poem Vrai. I have a lab that is 15 years now, and I know soon that this day will be coming for me. :bawl:
Don't tell me when it happens...I'll cry. :bawl:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry about your dog, E :huggy:
