My Puppies forgot what housetrained means

After Brandy passed, we adopted Bandit, he was 9 wks old at the time and we were home for a month straight with him and housetrained him, including going out the doggie door by himself to go. Six weeks later we went back and adopted his sister Maddie. Bandit taught Mad how to use the doggie door and we were home for about 2 weeks and seemed to have housebroken her. The last couple of weeks, they have been going potty in the house. I tried cleaning the areas with cleaners, etc. They still have 24/7 access to 2 doggies doors that go into the back fenced yard. They do go outside too but it seems to be mostly when I am gone. My hubby and kids can be home and they still do it. If I'm there, they don't. Any suggestions. I am going to steam clean the carpets and deodorize them. I've sprayed no go on them but that seems to just be for urine. It also is mostly in the basement that they go, but time to time it is other places in the house. Any suggestions to deter them? Something I can put down? I've even tried puppy pads in their favorite spots. (btw, I have someone who cleans my backyard once a week so it's not from too much poop back there). Appreciate any advice - they are 7 months old now.

When I first got my Pup, she would take one step forward, and two steps back in the potty training. I was at my wits end with that, when all of the sudden, she was completely House Trained. While you are gone, keep them in a Kennel if possible. They won't go unless they really have too.

I agree, and as much as some people don't believe in crating, sometimes it IS a necessary option to utilize. Some dogs have potty issues, and others can be destructive.

I have heard that most dogs that are surrendered, have Pottying issues. Whether it is Owner laziness, or just stubborness on the Dog's part. I would much rather Crate my Dog, than surrender them to a Shelter. I am not saying that the OP is lazy by any means, but it does take time to break a Pup from using the house as a litter box. It took me 4 months to train this pup, but with other's I've had in the past, it has taken as little as one month to do it. I had a Chihuaua that was not only trained to go outside, but she also used the litter box. Especially when it was raining. That was cute!! Don't give up on your babies. They're only 7 months old right?

Thanks for the advice. I will not give up on them! After 3 kids and my 2nd being extremely stubborn in potty training, forgot after all these years how frustrating it can be, kid or puppies. I have a lot of patience and feel it's nothing a carpet shampoo can't fix!
