Mystery Amazon delivery

There was a big box my back porch when I got home. Only problem is I haven't ordered anything from them. The address is correct but the name only shows the first name of my ex-husband. I called him and he hasn't ordered anything either.

The plastic bag on the outside saying "packing list enclosed" is empty. So I open the big outer plastic bag covering the box to find out what's inside and the box says this:

Amazon.com: Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel: Toys & Games

Nope, I have no use for it.

I've been going around in circles at both the UPS and Amazon sites to figure out who and how to contact to get it back to them. Any suggestions?

A-ha! A clue!

From the UPS tracking site:

11/18/2013 6:50 A.M. Post office box address. UPS is attempting to obtain an address to which delivery can be made, not delivered. / The address has been corrected. The delivery has been rescheduled.

Not sure how they picked my address but this is getting kind of fun!

Mystery solved! For some reason UPS picked my address out of a hat since the ex and the intended deliveree have the same first name.

And funny I've known this person for many years and our last names are not even CLOSE to each other. I was even able to give them his general address. They will be by tomorrow to pick it up and send it on its correct way.

I ordered some stuff off drugstore.com this past summer and ended up getting somebody else's order instead. I was out of town at the time and told my husband to go ahead, open the box. He sends me a text... :cds: telling me it was not our order of protein bars, instead it contained wipes, depends and deodorant. When I got home the next day, I got another package from drugstore.com which was the protein bars I ordered. I tried to get a hold of somebody at drugstore.com but after having no luck, I emailed them instead. They responded telling me they duplicated my order for the protein bars, gave me a credit of $10.00 and never addressed how I was to return the items I received in error. I sent another email explaining that I got my protein bars and somebody else's order. They responded telling me they were sorry and credited me another $10.00. It was crazy! I swear they never read any of my emails and eventually, I donated the items.

The Shipping store in Wildewood does this weird thing where, when I send packages to my friend, it combines my first name and her last name as the return sender.

What does that equal? Her ex-mother in law's name.

And it only lists their contact information, not my personal information, which I think is a little weird. When I asked about this and how to change it, they were like "maybe she won't notice." Uh, a birthday package with weird contact information that appears to be from her ex-MIl? She'll notice.

Unless their names are something like Xanthias, Sanjeet or Guillermo that's a really stupid way of trying to find a match.

No kidding, since it's one of the most common names out there!

The package was gone when I got home from work and is hopefully on its correct way, especially since I put the real recipient's name and address on it.

About a year ago, I ordered a floor lamp from an online site. I later got an email saying that they had cancelled the order because the item could only be shipped to an address in the state of California. Huh? OK!

So, about 3 months ago I received the lamp. I didn't find any indication of a credit card charge.

Credit hackers have been known to have stuff shipped to houses where nobody is usually home during the day.. package gets delivered, left on the porch, they come by and get their stolen goods before you get home.

Believe me, if it were credit hackers, they would do MUCH better than a $70 kiddie easel left at my house.

But in all seriousness, I check my credit card and debit card charges religiously - probably 2 or 3 times a week. I've had my cards compromised through not fault of my own so I stay alert and vigilant.
