Let's face it...cops will always be "above the law." They have to be, in order to enforce it. But just about all of them (just like anyone working anywhere) will bend the rules when personal need requires it.

You ever not put in a full 8 hours at the office and not report it on your time sheet? You ever fudge the numbers when filling out your 1040? Did you ever call in sick, when you really went and joined your buddy fishing? Have you ever "bent the rules?"

As I said, it appears the cop was up to more than just covering personal expenses. All I'm saying is that life functions on the gray areas.
$12K is a put more than rounding up to the next hour on a time sheet.

I speed, just like the cops do. If I get caught, I pay the price. Cops don't.

The laws should be enforced, as written. If cops need to speed to enforce the law, the law should allow it.

"Gray areas" are undefined. This was a well defined crime. He did it, so he should pay the same price anyone else would, whether it be jail, fine, community service, or as most commonly seen in SOMD, NP.

Didn't I just say that it appears they were up to more than just skirting pump tax?

The gray areas are frustrating. I live it at work every day.
