Let me address this post;
1) Sorry, got the song title wrong, it's "The Grand Illusion" and is the first song on the album. Also, this album was released during the Carter Administration, kind of fitting for both administrations ain't it.
2) I am retired and no longer in uniform, I an now able to exercise my 1st Amendment right of free speech, which I was not able to do while in uniform. Since I am no longer in uniform it is not disrespect to the CoC and I'm sure you didn't say anything bad about Bush when he was in office........did you?
3) As far as "splurging that pension check", sounds like you are jealous.
I proudly served this country for 20.5 years of my life, thus giving this country the best years of my life. The day I left for boot camp I was a health 18 yo, the day I retired I was a broken 39 year old, I have 50% hearing loss in one ear, 40% in the other, my hips, knees and ankle joints are shot, I've dislocated my right shoulder three times, broken three fingers, had my right leg smashed by 3,000 lbs of bombs, took a catapult hold back fitting in the right knee, got hit by three A-6 hold back fittings (ever get hit by a golf ball going 150 mph), have been pissed on by more chemicals then the floor at a DuPont factory and learned to work sleep deprivation into an art form.
I have missed six of the following, in a row; wedding anniversaries, son's birthdays, first day of a school year and all holidays in between serving this country. Also numerous holidays over the years plus the passing of my grandmother, the month my Dad was in ICU due to a car accident, and have left my wife at home to deal with every house hold issue under the sun.
I think I earn that retirement check even though the government promised it to me if I completed my end of the deal. I did 20 years like I promised, the government pays me once a month like they promised. Got a problem with retirees getting a retirement check, take it up with the government because I know if you are getting one, you aren't refusing it either.
Also, I have never cursed Barry nor does he have anything to do with my retirement check, his name is not on it. When Barry starts respecting our military and the office he holds, I will show him the respect he deserves; until then......................
4) I see you are a racist for the skin color of the current president is irrelevant to me, it's his philosophy and policies that I have an issue with. See, I defended this country for 20 years against socialist, both foreign and domestic and if you haven't noticed, this current president is a socialist. I couldn't care less what color this president is, I care about his means when he says he wants to "fundamentally change this nation".
5) I never complain about a fly over, and it costs a lot more than just gas money. It is a great way to show John Q. Public what his tax dollars are being used for, it's a great way to provide a public service to the general public since the public generally likes those fly overs and it's a great training evolution for the aircrew. I have gone in on weekends numerous times in order to launch aircraft for a fly over and never complained about doing it, I actually enjoyed doing it.
6) You are correct, we have a lot of serious problems that need to be addressed but so far, the president hasn't addressed one of them. He is too busy campaigning, stirring up emotions on social issues, and blaming others for his own policies/mistakes. He should be working on rebuilding the economy, lowering the unemployment rate, strengthening our military, protecting our citizens both here and abroad, and protecting our freedoms, too bad he has done the opposite and seems more worried about his March Madness bracket picks then solving a mess he created. So the next time you hear him state his position, or issue policy on some hot button issue ask yourself, what has he done to solve those issues I just listed.......but the answer will be nothing.
7) If the military turns against the citizens of this country it will be by direction of the president, and that will be the end of the military and this country. I know for a fact that a majority of the military will not shoot unarmed citizens, nor will they oppress them. The military will revolt and that will be it for "the won".
Now, like I said in an earlier post, I have been lurking this site daily for over 8 years before I became a member. I have become very familiar with the regulars here and which way they lean, so while I may be new to this site, it's members are not new to me.
Since you seemed to miss the point of my post let me spell it out for your feeble intellect. I was pointing out that the decision to cancel the flyover was a political one and asking the Skipper of VX-23 to counterman that would be asking him to put himself into a position that could ruin his career...and is it really worth that.
Now, why don't you take a few lessons in reading comprehension and shove that racist stereotypical crap where the good Lord put your brains.
