Looks like a sedan pulled out in front of Golden Eye's largest seafood truck, right at Winters HVAC. on Rt. 5. Smashed the car like a bug...stripped the running gear almost completely out from under the box truck.

I thought the feds shut down golden eye.
Oh heck no. Where did you hear that? They are still the biggest seafood wholesaler in this area...probably got at least 6 of their own fleet of boats out on any given day, and a daily buyer for many of the local watermen. Small fleet of seafood delivery trucks, but the one in the accident was their biggest and newest.

Winters was supposed to stop by my place this morning to discuss replacing all the HVAC equipment in my apartment building..since the system in it died a couple days ago. Guess he's kinda hung up by the mess in front of his business.

Why don't you just take to the apartment the USB-powered micro-fan SGI has to depend on for cooling himself while slaving away in your sweat shop? 🤷

It was years ago. They had numerous citations and Robbie was sentenced to 18 months in prison and the company was put on probation.

Maybe they got their act together or another family member took it over?

It seems like that area sees an serious accident a week. I live very close by, and it's always that 1/4 stretch of road. SUV went off road to the right a few weeks ago, etc. Yep, another accident in front of Winters.

I know....known Bob for a long time and watched his kids grow up. He and one of his two sons still run Golden Eye. Was just over at the their shop last week fixing an outboard on one of their boats.

Quite a few "prominent" St. Mary's watermen were scooped up in "the great rockfish bust". My brother-the-carpenter just happened to be at one of the locations the Feds raided when the whole bust came down. He was just there to pick up some of his tools....ended up being detained for quite a few hours until he was cleared. LOL. Good times...

I don't want to disturb his work. I only come close enough to his work space to toss in some junk food snacks within reach of where he's shackled to his desk. Always the ones that are heavy on the sugar. He needs all the energy I can feed him.

Winters wanted $365.00 from me for a 8" $25.00 filter. I was going to get it on line. But, another local place had it for 25 bucks. When I asked the lady that answered the phone why they wanted to charge me 365 bucks for a 25 dollar filter, she had no response.

Way to derail the thread! :high5:

Anyhoo - I'm not sure why the lady on the phone didn't have a response for you - maybe she felt put on the spot. Hopefully, she can use that question as a learning experience to find out why they charge that much. I'm always prepared to explain our Service Fee.

How long does it take to install that filter? I'm just curious. Businesses - all businesses have overhead expenses (gas, maintenance & insurance on the vehicle, workman's comp, etc. not to mention the facilities and all that overhead to stay open) and have to pay the Technicians who perform the service. A service call *just to drive their truck off the lot* might be about $300.00. On top of all those items, I also make sure that our potential customers understand that we stand behind our work, guarantee our service AND the parts we install.

You're certainly entitled to shop around for the best deal for your money. Make sure you trust whom you have come out, and that they provide you value and peace of mind for the service they perform.

Or you can always buy the parts online and install them yourself. 🤷

You've been in business for yourself, how long did you say??
