Need a computer person

Our personal geek is here right now stripping down Sam's laptop. It decided that the OS and the video driver weren't going to talk anymore. To a gamer, that is death. So he's tearing it all down, killing Vista, and rebuilding using Windows 7.

For some reason the industry thinks 1500 laptops are disposable and should be replaced every 2-3 years.

I can ask him if he's interested in helping you out - BUT - he is a 20 year old kid. His dad trained him up so they wouldn't have to rely on others. He's good but if you want a business with someone you can strangle if they mess up, go with Duponster's guy. Mine works for food.

I need my laptop repaired need to replace my hard drive or at least I think I do :(

I think mine is back to normal. I had more windows updates installed and it hasn't frozen all afternoon. Thanks!

Mine just took a tumble down the stairs. :doh: Fortunately, it was in standby and the drive heads were parked.

Seems to be ok....

If you have the original disks/installer, uninstall and reinstall. If you use Outlook, make sure you save your .PST file (your saved email).

-or-

Control Panel/Programs and Features. Find Office, run the uninstaller and it should give you a 'repair' option.

Yes.. I created a reinstall disc and I transferred all of my files to an external hard drive. As soon as I have the money I will order a new hard drive. My brother in-law should be able to install it for me. I haven't even had this laptop 3 years . I wonder why it needs to be replaced? It did have a full d drive.

He has a tower too, but he likes the laptop. And son, not hub. Both sons have taken laptops to LAN parties and beaten the pants off of guys with customized towers.

I think the better question is what do they not play. Lately they've all been playing League of Legends quite a bit.

:tantrum Some proggy I DL included yahoo tool bar hidden and it doesn't show up in my "add/remove programs" control panel. JFC!!

Check the add-ons. Tools/Add-ons. If it's not there, sometimes there is a remove option on the far right side of the tool bar.

It's working ok. I've concluded it only runs slow when DL & installing windows updates. The tool bar is just an inconvenience.

Get the (free) program CCleaner. It's very easy & user friendly. You can see very easily all (among other things) programs on the computer & uninstall what you want.

I've used it for over 10years to control what is on my computer.
