:lol: A guy from the agency just called me back saying that he had been asking all morning if I had called.....and the girl that I spoke to had an incomplete list....he says that Ash has "gobs" of talent and potential for both acting and print work.....just pay me $1950 for this six month class........:roflmao:

No....I actually (dummy) said let me think about it and call you back.....well I have decided heck no.....if I was rich and $1950 was chump cahnge then maybe...but it's not and I am WAAAAAAAAAAAY too leary of it.....but, the agency is John Robert Powers, which I do think is reputable...:ohwell:

You should've told him to enroll Ash in the class, and you'd pay him his almost 2k when he'd tripled that in earnings for her. :ohwell:

I used to be an agent...

You're a smart lady.
Don't EVER pay extra for anything. In general, if they're interested, they'll offer a contract, and take 10 to 15% of any bookings they get for her. If they try to get more, refuse the offer.
Chances are, after she sees the people this weekend, they'll try to get you to pay for something else (that's also extra). It could be a "contract", modeling classes, etc. Don't do it, but you seem smart enuff to figure it out for yourself.

If you do a google search with the name John Robert Powers, you get Tons of bad press where people pay the 2k and do not get much for their money. Looks like it is high pressure to get people to pay for the acting class or learn to walk the runway.
I think you did right by not paying.

my sister works for an agency like this one and they get commission on people who show up and take the class. At the end they do a little in house talent show- thats it. The best bet if she wants to take classes (ie.. self confidence builders) check out the rec. center they offer acting classes and modeling classes sometimes. Good luck
