Depends on how much you want to pay. If money is no object, call any excavating company in the book. If you don't want to have to bend over for it, well. . . If you find some, let me know, we've been looking over a year. We paid $250 for 5 small dump truck loads full of beer bottles. The guy spread it too, . . .about an hour before a torrential downpour that washed it all into a stormwater pond. :duh:

If there's any construction in your area, check with the construction company. I know someone who recently had about 20 full-size dump truck loads of dirt all for free. They were tearing down trees and digging in La Plata. Anyhow...just a thought.

 How can you have clean and dirt in the same sentence? I've never heard of clean fill dirt before.

They run the dirt through a screen to take out all the branches, beer bottles, and large rocks.

Thanks cmc, I thought it was something like that, but then again, if I were ordering dirt, I would expect dirt not branches, beer bottles and rocks. Now, I know that if I ever need dirt to make sure I get just dirt.

Screened dirt costs alittle more but its worth the price, depending on what you are using the dirt for.

If you have a large area to fill, the free type fill like Sxy suggests is what you want but to topcoat the yard the screened soil is by far the best. A single axle dump truck load is around $150 and that is not a lot of dirt.

Yea, excavating companies get paid to dig it up, and then they turn around and sell it (again). Shell game if I ever heard of one.

They are out of Great Mills...surprised you haven’t heard of them. It is very well known.... It is a excavating company...they basically do just about everything. I don’t think they build though...mainly land clearing...pavement, etc.

Alot of times they just need to get rid of it though...so its just easier to dump somewhere where someone could use it. They are ready and willing to give it away.
