Need Health insurance?

So, it's better that the person DIES because they don't have the money in their hands, RIGHT NOW?

You sound like a freakin' gangster.

He thinks that the insurance company should work for free, but the doctors shouldn't. The doctors had the ability and resources to save her life (or, really, prolong her death) but they decided not to because of money.

This whole case is just extortion by the lawyers. They're also the only ones who will get rich from this. And Forest is falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

Morally, full liability goes to the bean counters at the hospital who decided not to perform the procedure.

After watching the news today I'd have to side with the Insurance company.. BUT if it was my child I don't know what I would have done.

AFter hearing the facts of the story the liver MAY have extended her life by 6 months, with only a 65% of her making it to 6 months. There was no information about if her life would have improved any for those 6 months, or if she would have remained in a coma for the entire 6 months.

Flip side to all of this.. somone MAY have got a liver transplant that may live another 30 years.. that may have died had she got it.

Everyone wants to blame the insurance company as being heartless and all about the money, but sometimes a disinterested, not emotionally involved, third party actually makes the best decisions for everyone involved.

You mean coitus?
There's an awful lot to this story that Forest is ignoring.

4. The big thing Forest ignores: If we get universal health care like he wants, claims like this will not be denied because people will die before the claim ever gets processed. Universal health care will be bogged down in bureaucracy and senseless rules. Decisions on life and death matters will be decided by brainless paper pushers with all the efficiency of the MVA. Under universal health care, this girl would still be waiting for the bone marrow transplant.

You are so right about this....if this country goes to universal healthcare; think DMV. It will take three hours just to get the correct form! :lmao:

I think if the 17 year old had a chance the Dr's Nurses, and hospital WOULD have donated their resources time and money to try to save her.

There are MANY hospitals, her being 17, that would have taken the case for free IF she had a chance.

But like you said, it gives the lawyers a chance to name a 'bad guy' get public opinion behind their cause, and the lawyers in the end will get rich. You know this will probably never see the inside of a courtroom but am sure the extortion money will amount to MILLIONS to keep Cigna's name out of the press.

I think the million of people without health insurance would still prefer this to nothing at all....

Wow, only one million? Out of 300 million? That's 0.33%. This is an issue why?

Or did you get your facts wrong as usual?

In My Opinion
Too bad the girl wasnt from Biofra or something, they would have done it all for free and gave the parents free room and board for the next 6 months to insure a good recovery.

got to love America, takes care of others before its own.

The Gov. Ruined Health care in this country - once the Gov started paying peoples medical costs in the 60's prices have gone up and up ....... then the malpractice ambulance chasers like EDWARDS - ####ing retard - drove up the cost of insurance .... if everyone had to write a check and pay out of pocket the cost would not be near as high as it is today ........
