It could happen.

I accidently knocked a bottle of A-1 over into one of my old monitors. Did not hurt it and it lasted another 6-7 years till I gave it away. Was kind of cool. The computer room always smelled like an indoor BBQ.

Have you checked the color fluid in it?
hmmm seeing that it is only three years old I don't think they have the color fluid anymore. Didn't they switch to monitor toner a year or so ago?

Re: Monitor

Wanted to thank everyone who tried to help me fix my monitor. But yesterday it bit it. I tried blowing it out with canned air, unplugging and plugging back in. The humming got worse late in the day yesterday and then it just went black. The humming was coming from one of the ports on the monitor, It was the video card. Have a loaner coming to me on Saturday, till then I use my kids ancient, slower than a turtle computer. Thanks again.

Well, At least you tried. Keeping the compressed air around is handy for things like keyboards and such as well.

I tried to look on the net for you for some truobleshooting advice sites for your specifc monitor but there just were not any that I could find in a resonlabe amount of time that seemed to have any worthwhile information.

Hopefully it was not in pain when it passed. It is in a much better place now. :poke:

On Start up, my monitor makes this hissing noise, which eventually stops. It also rolls, like those old tv's in the background, this it does all the time. Only started about a week ago. It's a Likom HD17A flat screen, if that info is helpful. Thanks!

sounds like the flyback transformer is leaking ......... aka shorting to ground

this is a CRT Flat Screen ? Not and LCD Flat Panel right ?
