Then you won't need to bother with chew toys. They can just gnaw on the edges of the cabinets.
My Mom's dog chewed everything in their house. Ripped up about 3 feet of vinyl in the kitchen, tore up a section of the livingroom carpet. Evil dog.

The only thing Goomba ever tried to eat was neighbor kids.

somehow I remember that in the past, generations of people trained dogs to go outside without having to completely disrupt their lives. I have to think we'll adapt just fine.
NO!! This is the Oughts and EVERYTHING is a touchy feely big deal! Don't you read the papers???

Just make sure you outfit the pups with safety helmets - you can't be too careful. :yay:

I agree with this. Sam, with your lifestyle, cats would have been a better choice for you and BlueJay. However, now that the pups are family members, I think you should consider the kitchen rather than the crate.

Also, can't some small dogs be taught to use a litterbox? It seems to me that I've heard that before but I've never known anyone who did it.
My Chi used a litter box. It was far easier than taking her outside, too. I wouldn't recommend it for large dogs though.

Bluejay is ***EXTREMELY*** allergic to cats.
Me, too, but I have one. In fact, I've always had cats (and dogs) growing up. I've finally found the right meds that keep my allergies non-existant. Though, I've noticed that if I go into a house with cats (and sometimes dogs), I'll be messed up for at least a week.

It depends on the cats and the dogs for me. I am both HIGHLY allergic to both cats and dogs (tested by the allergy skin test) and I have both a dog and cat. I don't have to take allergy meds until the spring when all the pollen starts up. But sometimes there is the occasional cat or dog that will make me all itchy so I have to get some benadryl asap.

Thank goodness the only thing Neo has ever chewed up was some of the kids stuffed animals.
our first show quality rottie, a male, purchased from the top breeder in the country to the tune of 1000.00 over 20 years ago, chewed up a tether ball which, had one LOONG piece of ELASTIC that tethered it to the post...MAN that was awful, we had to follow him around for freaking WEEKS snip-snipping 6" sections of elastic as he slowly pooped it out. You couldn't pull it, because it was all twisted up. I was NEVER so glad to see the wadded up end of elastic ribbon in my life. :dead:

With her, even with meds, it doesn't help. She's been going to the doctor for allergy meds every day for the past few years to lessen her allergy. Makes no difference. When they initially measured her, she was off the charts in every test they took.

For some reason, she's able to tolerate these pups. But cats? If you've been near a cat in the last week, she'll be allergic to you.
