Just to clear up and stop the hate mail :

Apollo isn't a puppy - he's two years old or thereabouts. My DIL's mother found him running by the highway and stopped to chase him down. She found his owner, who said they didn't want him and she should take him to the pound . She pawned him off on my son and DIL, who were just opening their skating rink and couldn't really give him any time because they're so busy.

Enter me.

So technically he is a rescue, not from a breeder, and not a puppy.

But I mean, geez, look how long it took me to decide on basement flooring. And what I wanted to do with the stairs. It's consistent with my character that I'd want to wait until I found the right dog and not just make a snap decision I'd be sorry for later.

It took the LW and I 6-7 months to decide on getting our 1st (together) dog. Our 2nd was a roadside rescue too.

Me and mine are planning a trip to Nashville/Mt. Juliet soon; through Roanoke Rapids.
Stopping every few hours to stretch your legs/eat/potty breaks/walk the pup; you can make the drive in roughly 18 hours. There are all kinds of rest areas south of here going west; and many of them have a "special" area for dogs to.....well.....you know.....
