I am old enough but we are in business together and discuss stuff with each other.

Was wondering about that as well. To be honest I was under the impression you were very young. Never to young to ask questions though :yay:

No I am not very young.

Happy Happy. Wish you the best with this. Kinda awkward with it being a neighbor and all. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

Maybe this old dog can be trained to poop on puppy pads. You might even want to buy a cheap pack, I know they arent that cheap, to start with. That might help, then you wont have to clean it up. I dont care how much you pay me, cleaning diarhea sucks.

Like someone else said before, please make sure he does not take it out on the dog. People kill their pets because of money or lack of it. This poor old dog sounds like hes got it bad enough. Take care of him and give the puppy pad thing a try.

If you are in the pet sitting biz, you might want to get a stronger stomach.
You should have a price/service for dogs like puppies and geriatrics. A service package that is a bit more expensive but includes more visits and extra time with that pet, as it will need more than your other clients. Make this required so that you do not get taken advantage of and so that your client's pet gets the care it needs.
As others have already said, if you start out too nice and too low in price, people like your neighbor will be all over that. Pet sitting is not easy and requires a lot of time and attention. Don't be scared to charge the people for the work that the job requires..

Stop being nice! I think the going rate is $15 to $20 per half hour. I would not expect someone else to clean up if my doggies had an "accident." The litter box, yes, if I were out of town, but that is it! If my dogs had a poopy problem, I would be concerned and would not expect someone else to deal with it! I would get them to a vet!
He is taking advantage of you. Friend or neighbor, it is what it is! I would be curious to know "why" the dog has potty issues- it may be something besides old age. New food or diet, bad teeth, virus, parasites- he should be seen by a vet and I would recommend that to him before I went back there. Are you disinfecting your shoes and hands before going into another person's home?
It is hard to be confrontational but it sounds like you need to have a candid talk with him!

As a business owner myself I would suggest you talk the problems you are having with your client and not eveyone else in Southern Maryland. It is very unprofessional. Of course, you are frustrated with excessive clean-ups but sometimes that is part of the job. The poor dog is elderly and obviously cannot help it. I would suggest you refer to Pet Sitters International Quality Standards for Pet Sitting.
