Dont get me wrong, most cases, the Smart is going to take it in the shorts.

IIHS Crash Test: Smart ForTwo vs. Mercedes-Benz C-Class | Straightline Blog on Edmunds' Inside Line

The Smart does do better than you would expect, but even so, pay close attention to what happens after impact. for the Mercedes driver, event over, while the Smart driver (and car) is still violently pirouetting around.

Seems to me the dummy in the Smart Car also hits the steering wheel with much more force. The Mercedes dummy didn't get flopped around nearly as much.

:shocking:

smartcar almost flips over ....

If you look at the slo-mo, darn thing gets airborne. And Bob, I know the cage held up, but thats not really the point in this case. There so much less mass, and less crumple zone, the forces exerted on the SMart car driver will be correspondingly higher. Hell, you end up going backwards!!!!

Now, thats a midsize, see what happens against a full size, an S class, figure it to weigh in about 300 less than a Jeep Grand Cherokeee, or about the same as an LR2.

thing goes for a RIDE!!!!!!!

Agreed, but I'd assume these are Mercedes tests.. as they are crashing one Mercedes into another.

Now take the SMART out, and put in a Toyota Corolla.. or a Chevy Cobalt, or a Ford Focus.. against the same E class Mercedes..

Actually, no, that one there is TUV, I think. From what I know, the TUV is similar to the IIHS, a private company, but with one big difference. I think that most Euro nations dont to their own crash testing, they just publish standard, and the makers pay TUV to do the testing for certification. And the Euros accept TUV results.
