Negotiating with creditors

Of course, living with mom and dad is a bonus, if you have that option.
Not always...In my situation, I pay a heavy price to live with mom and dad. Sometimes I wonder if I would be better off living in my truck than to be here putting up with the things I have to deal with because of it. The only thing that keeps me here is the realization that living in my truck is no way to raise small children :ohwell: That and the fact that, if I left, mom would give dad a heart attack because he would be the only punching bag she would have left.

That is a "mental" price. The fact that you live there should make it easier for you to juggle the "financial" end. I'm not getting on you about that, just count your blessings, and D does have a good job, right?

My sanity is worth more than money :bawl: He does. After his dad got sick, its just been one thing after another and now its outta control. It doesnt help much when we constantly have to find things to do, outside of the house, to get the kids away from mom and her tirades. :jameo: If we could stay home constantly, without any uproar, things would be better too.

Did you hear that crap today? :bigwhoop:

2 days to repair a problem was going to cost Alaska $13M and now it's going to be shut down for 2-3 months. What the heck is that going to cost? :jameo:

Why is this always falling on us when this stuff hits the fan?

Vrai brought up a very valid point months ago. If they wanted to help us out, lift the damn tax on gas. :yay:

Thats an excellent idea! We can pay her $100 to do it. :yahoo:

If you get all of your ducks in a row, there is no reason to pay anybody $100. I think my g/f said that CCCS charged her 10%, but they were able to get her monthly payments down to a payable amount.

You girls just need to learn how to say "no" to the extras that you like to have and that your children have learned to expect.

It's actually quite simple, and that is free advice.

Sometimes I think they wont be happy until we are all so dependant on oil that we are begging in the streets for it. Somehow it HAS to come to a head, there are too many people who are hurting for it. Eventually, its going to explode into people losing their houses or jobs or whatever else, because they cant afford anything. Either the government doesnt realize what a toll that gas prices are taking on your average everyday middle class family (not to mention those that are single parents and dont make much, or just dont make much) or they dont care :ohwell:

I've always told them I would cancel the account and it's worked every time. Even got 0% interest for the life of the card.
I think I'll try that. Everything I've read online says that threatening bankruptcy is a good way to get what you want as well. Does anyone know anything about the new bankruptcy law? My dad said they passed something where you have to pay off all debt, no matter what kind of bankruptcy you file for.

I didn't read this entire thread. I always pay my Visa off, every month. Now I have offers from other lenders offering 0% for over a year. I just switch over my balance to them, which is usually less than $500 and cruise on 0%. Just getting ready to do that because we have to fly three places between now and December.

It's time for counseling, and putting your family (D and kids) before all else.

Sick mom's and dad's need to take care of themselves, and so do you. That's my 2 cents.

It's a vicious circle, and it's time to get out and move forward.

Right now I be living with my mother, her boyfriend, her boyfriends two cousins, one of the cousins baby's and her other baby that got taken aways baby's daddy, 2 little nephews that my momma be raisin for my no good brother, my brothers ex girlfriend that aint the momma to the nephews, and my sister and her 3 little sweet baby's and her baby's daddy's cousing. We all manage to get along just fine- it be breakin my heart when kids don't be liking their momma's. If it weren't for your momma you would be livin in your truck, I think you owe her a big hug and quit complainin about having to live with her and give her a big hug and tell her thank you and then you could cook her some greens or something.

One of my cards has an interest rate of 29.99% :bawl: I have ALWAYS been current with my payments, but I will never get cards like that paid off. The minimum for that card right now is $49 and only $35 goes to the balance. I dont mind paying someone if it will get it paid off faster, I need to try and get it paid off in the next year or so. We need to start looking for a house before my son goes to school. I could also probably handle a personal loan, to pay it all off and only owe one payment a month but I dont know who would give us as much as we need.
Why would you get a card at that rate?

I'm glad I don't have any...yet.

Its a Toys R Us Chase card :ohwell: I think if I could get all my interest rates lowered, I wouldnt need to worry about a smaller balance or a credit counseling service. My debt isnt horribly high, but once you factor in all the FC's and over time, its outrageous.
:smack: Cut up your credit cards NOW!

I read about it. Time to really start budgeting, marry a rich guy/gal or find a career where you don't have to commute and enjoy living in a cardboard box.

Of course, living with mom and dad is a bonus, if you have that option.

 Those are so all of the answers.

Then what else would we tax to replace the gazillions of dollars of lost revenue??

California is already contemplating a mileage tax on hybrid cars due to the reduction in tax revenue.

The only GOOD thing is the tax on gas in not a percentage.. we are paying NO more in taxes on gas then what we were 5 years ago.. or at 1.50 a gallon we were paying about 43 cents a gallon in tax.. at $3.15 a gallon we are still paying just 43 cents a gallon in tax..

I only have my mortgage, summer child care and school before and aftercare, electric, cable, phone, cell, DSL, auto insurance, pet costs, and one little VISA credit card that is in good standing that I've had for two years.

A few months ago I cancelled the privacy protection and the insurance on the Visa because for the balance I carry it was ridiculous to insure the card (in case of whatever) and for what I paid monthly for the PP I could monitor my own credit. Saved me about $18 on that card when sometimes I didn't use it during that month and that was the only purchase.

I guess my biggest unstable debt is my car gas for the commute. When I moved down here working in VA gas was $1.69 or something like that. My commute is better than it was but still long and now gas is pushing double what it was and still rising. :jameo:
