I totally disagree with the popular use of people calling themselves "African-American" just because they are black.
1. Probably 95% of blacks were not born in Africa - they were born here, so they should call themselves Americans - not African-Americans.
2. Any form that asks your race/ethenticity has "White" on it....why not "Black" as well? I refuse to answer when they list "White" and use "African-American" for blacks.
I don't walk around looking to be called "Swedish-American" or "Scottish-American" just because that is where my ancesters are from. I'm white and I'm an American. They are black and Americans. Simple as that.
