(dont mind her)

who is your reg vet? ... lets start there :yay:

then check at the well pet clinic
:duel:

If they did a search, they'd probably find several threads that discuss this. I suggested a vet, because I wouldn't put it past someone on here to suggest putting a rubber band around them and letting them rot and fall off on their own. Some people are dumb enough to fall for that.

and why wait months? If they're old enough to get it done, just do it  Cheapest isn't always the best ya know. :coffee:

true... but I will say depends on the breed and if it is male or female.

sometimes on a larger breed I may wait till they are older to get it done... more so if it is a female. Depending on the breed you can get her pexied at the same so she does not become a GDV later in life. :yay:

they will not pexie a large breed female at a young age due to she still has growing to do.

...oh and you are right... people do place rubber bands on them :jet:

HI ! I just had my dog neutered about 6 weeks ago, and it WAS done by my vet at the Calvert Well Pet Clinic, they took great care of him. I'd have gone to them whether it was cheaper or not because she is also my vet who handled it!! But they were darn cheap and I still got the after care meds and got him micro chipped too !!

I already got a quote from my vet. I was just asking if there was somewhere recommended that was lower in cost but still the best care is offered.
My parents took our childhood pet to lucky ones.. Wasnt sure if they took care of dogs... Since back in the day it was just a cat place..

And why wait.. Because my CHI dog was perviously deathly ill with a genetic disease and just now has stabalized and is well enough to be considered to be neutered. I am also waiting for a time period when I am able to tend to him properly and make sure there are no complications of sorts and I am unable to do so right now.

The Well Pet Clinic in Lexington Park. I took mine there and they were much less expensive than a reg. vet office. I still use my reg. vet office, though for everything else. I'm not sure of the phone number, but they are down off Great Mills Rd.

The well pet clinic will do it if they are a puppy/small sized dog. They said my 2 yr old lab was too large for them, so I have an appt with lucky ones for him. I have used both for spaying/neutering both my cats and dogs and haven't had a problem with either. Also if the well pet clinic can do it, you can get a voucher to have it paid for from the county's animal control....all we had to pay for was the shots our pup was due for on that visit-the spay was free!

When you contact the clinic I would recommend that you talk with the vet before hand (this isn't normally done) however, because you chi had a medical condition that is now stable. Most likely he still has it and it could effect the procedure. Not knowing all you do, I suggest you talk with the vet before you go ahead with the procedure. If I have concerns about the health of a pet I keep them with the same vet as much as possible as they have the best overall knowledge of them and their condition. You may even want to ask your vet about using a clinic vs his office. Most understand we do not have a lot of money and rather we do right by our animals. Asking never hurts, but not asking can. Most clinics are designed for cost effective and safe procedures, but are not as prepared for things that go beyond the normal or the scope they deal with on a daily bases, but if they know in advance they can often prepare as well. Thanks so much for your input. I am going to call his vet later on today to talk to her.

This is the BEST advice I've seen, especially having an animal with underlying conditions. I took my Persian to her regular Vet because of breathing issues, and her having a Flat Face, but..I have taken my other Animals to the Well Pet Clinic, who did a great job. If you take your Pup to the Well Pet Clinic, and told them about his health problems, they would probably want a Clearence from his Caridologist before doing the procedure.

if you're still looking for a place to go, try the Humane Society of Charles County. They have low cost spay/neuter for general public and low income families. For a male dog, under 60 pounds and under 5 years old, it's only $90.
