New Carpeting

I've done searches for flooring companies in SoMD. I've seen many kudos for different companies who install hardwood. How about carpet? Has anybody replaced old carpeting with new carpet recently? I have two small bedrooms and a short hallway...the rest of the home is already hardwood. Where do I buy it and who installs it? Help! (Budget is a concern)

I had Griffins in California do some for me. I picked out one that they had on sale, wasn't too expensive. They came next day to install. Had the whole thing almost done and I saw the colors at the seam didn't match, really obvious. The manager came to my house to verify, they ripped it all up and laid down something a little more expensive at no more cost to me (after waiting a few days for new carpet), after admitting they had problems with that particular rug in the past.

Aside from the problem which they really didn't have control over, I was pleased. Easy folks to work with.

Oh, did not replace carpet, this was first time carpet in a basement over bare cement.

Can I come over and look at their work?

Wenchy, also check into Parran's flooring. He is in Leonardtown by where the old Mattingly's was. I haven't been there yet, but he used to do the installing on the side for Griffin, I think. He's a great guy. Griffin's is okay too. We bought a remnant years ago, that was big enough to do our living room dining room, stairs and hall. It has held up remarkably well and was marked down because it was a remnant. Bet they could cut you a deal because you have such a small area. It would be leftovers from a bigger job, so measure and then ask to see remnants they have in that size.

Who did the installation of the remnant?

To buy, do the installation, or both?

I have so many options here on the Eastern Shore and everything seems so difficult in SoMD...so I need personal experiences. Thank you.

I used Sherwin Williams for my last installations, but I don't believe you have any over there. Of course, every company uses different sub-contracters to install...ugh.

I used Griffin's last April and was happy with them

Thank you. They seem to be the higher end of the spectrum...not that I'm opposed. I'm looking for a medium quality carpet (kids and pets) and quality installation. Neither kids nor pets are potty or food trained at this point. :wench:

I went with a mid-grade too because of kids/pets and the guy had it all installed by himself in one day. I had the whole upstairs, except the bathroom, recarpeted.

FLOORING CENTRAL in La Plata, Have used them several times over the past 2 years.
Had to have carpet replaced due to a flood, in the house.
Owner Jim Hicks very pleasant person to deal with and I think their prices are reasonable.

I actually used Empire Today and they were great. They came out with lots of samples and would have installed the next day but I didn't want it in for a couple weeks. Thought they would be expensive but I had a dining room and family room done for reasonable price.

I recently carpeted my bedroom. Bought the carpet from Lowes and had Doyles install it. They are located off Rt. 5 close to Sheetz (Great Mills Road). Doyle's Abbey Carpet
