New cell phone

My Galaxy S3 is broked. Replacing it today or tomorrow.

Biggest factor in what phone I buy is call reception. My last 2 phones were both sub-par in my house. Droid Incredible was completely useless at home. Galaxy S3 I can use, but it's still spotty.

I am looking at the Droid MAXX and Droid Ultra by Motorolla. They are essentially the same phone. Difference is case composition (don't care, it's getting an otterbox), memory (no expansion slot, so what you buy is what you get; 32GB vs 16 GB) and battery (Maxx has tested out to almost 1/2 again the battery life of the Ultra).

Cost differential is $100.00.

I have had issues with my S3 not being able to download documents, which I do A LOT, so I am seriously leaning towards the MAXX for the double memory.

The extended battery life is good too, with all the camping I do I don't always have daily access to a charger.

Am I wasting the $100, or do you agree that it's worth it?

Discuss.

I have the older version, the Rzr Maxx HD, which also has massive memory and battery, and love it. Have had it for over a year now, and has been great. Very tough, has taken 4-5 chest level drops to concrete with only slight marking to the corners. Used it overseas and worked great, on Verizon, that is, my buddies SII on sprint was a joke.

Thanks.

Sprint is a joke. Period.

I've had a few different phones over the years and call quality/reception has never been an issue with Verizon, even down BF Valley Lee it worked ok. My last 2 were a Droid Thunderbolt and now it's a I phone.

My kids iphones are a PITA, from fragility to call quality, not products I have been happy with.

You said it. KIDZ LOL

I have an iphone and it's been fine. Bought the boy one and he dropped it within a month and shattered the glass.

I keep mine in a leather holster on my belt and his went in his pants pocket. He said it would be safer there. LOL.

1st I had a Griffin Survivor, but that was too damn big and put the screen to the outside of the belt clip, then I got the Otterbox Defender ... which I love

but the one I got, was used [traded for the Griffin] and the rubber case swelled from 2 yrs of oily hands .... so I bought a new Otterbox in a Urban Digi Camo

when I replace it with a 5S I already have a new case

it has a GLASS .2 mm screen protector

iPhone 5S / 5 Case Tough Armor Protection Kit
Screen Protector GLAS.t Slim - $29.99
Screen Protector Steinheil [Ultra Crystal] - $13.99

I have reception in the office. Had zero reception with the Galaxy.
I have good (it appears) reception at home. Had limited reception with the Galaxy.
MAXX appears to be a winner.

Put one of those on my Ipad Mini. Them things aint cheap!!

They are if you get them from Amazon, then again for an Ipad mini I would assume the price has a premium due to the extra size.

We have a black hole of service in our shop at work, us with the S4 seem to have less problems than everyone else. If you have anything other than Verizon you are f****d. The MAXX looked very nice, however my issues with Moto after my last 2 phones has pushed me to pursue another manufacturer. I had hoped that their partnership with Google would bring more to the table, but I have yet to be impressed.
