I am finally purchasing my first new furniture set. Where can I look that one won't break my budget and is nice stuff. I have been told Value City Furniture is decent and they have layaway. Any place else? I know Raley's is really expensive.

Ikea in Potomac Mills! I have been wanting to go there for a long time, too.

If you feel like a shopping excursion down to them parts, let me know. I might be game!

In the mean time, check out their web site

If you have the equipment, I suggest driving to NC to NC Furniture. You can save a butt-load, but you'll have to haul it yourself if you don't want to pay for shipping.

You can browse around many furniture stores, and if you see an item you like, make note of the item number, then try doing a search on the internet for the same piece(s) of furniture.

What I did was wait for a very good sale at LazyBoys at Waldorf. I sure got me really good quality furnitures couple months ago.

Moore's furniture in Mechanicsville is supposed to be a NC outlet.

There is also one 10 past the Harry Nice Bridge on 301 in Va.

Thompson's Furniture in Hollywood - Not a Ritzy store but they mark off at least 30% on all their marked prices. Family owned nice people.

We caught a sale at Raley's a few months back and got a GREAT deal. Awesome, nice quality set, and the 1-year no interest payment plan. Normally they're not the cheapest, but they do have good sales that you might want to look for. They're even holding the set for us until we're ready for it.

That's what I paid for. For one sofa and one loveseat which are wall hugger type. Loveseat has two recliners, sofa has two recliners.. I am happy when my kids are happy.

Another deal is to hit the Room Store's basement. They have "scratch and dent" stuff. Not all of it is in bad shape. I once got a sofa and loveseat from there (the S&D section) for $600/set that I was looking at on the showroom floor for $1400! :yikes: The only problem was that along the cord border of the set, there were little loose threads that needed to be snipped! :duh: Hello! I'll snip stings for 5 minutes to save $800!

Check the Furniture Store in Waldorf. I scoped the place out and thought the prices were reasonable. Also, if you want NC furniture, go to Carolina Furniture in Waldorf.

Katie - are you talking bedroom furniture?? I thought you were talking about living room stuff. For bedroom furniture I have a GREAT recommendation!

It's in Laurel (and there are other locations too) and called the Bedroom Factory Outlet. It's GREAT and SOOO reasonable. Good quality too, not cheesy particle board stuff. We got our bedroom furniture and Mac's stuff there. They are negotiable on prices, and have a lay-a-way plan too. They're also holding our items until we're ready for them. HUGE selection!! Check them out.

And I believe they will deliver to at least Chaptico. Stopped and asked once. Don't recall if it's free delivery or not.

Take care,
