Finally they might sell a bike I'd ride.

Harley-Davidson inks deal to buy MV Agusta Group for $109 Mln - quick facts
7/11/2008 7:27 AM ET

(RTTNews) - Harley-Davidson Inc. (HOG: News, Chart, Quote ) announced that it has signed a definitive deal to purchase the Italian motorcycle maker MV Agusta Group, for total consideration of about $109 million.

The company noted that the total consideration for the deal includes the satisfaction of existing bank debt for about $70 million. The deal also provides a contingent payment to company's majority stakeholder, Claudio Castiglioni in 2016, if certain financial targets are met, the company said.

The company said it expects the acquisition to close in several weeks. The company plans to fund the transaction primarily through euro-denominated debt.

Course don't know how it will look all chromed and tassled.

Google the reviews on the new XR1200
Styled to resemble the legendary XR750 dirt track racer, they raided the Buell parts bin to get the go fast parts and most reviewers say it the fastest, best handling Harley ever produced.

... and it's only being sold in Europe

Where is the rest of the bike? It's fugly to me

It's Italian. I'm sure some people think Ferraris and Lamborghinis are ugly too. Think harley is starting to realize that there is something missing and they needed to do something to stay competitive in the market.

Rice Rockets appeal to the young.. 18 - 25 year old.. Harley to the old.. Average age is 55.. Augusta would be more in the 30 - 45 range.

Enough spunk left in your step to want a perfomance bike with enough money in your pocket to afford an Augusta.

I think you'll find the rice burners are the look-alikes. the Augusta, Ducati, Benelli, Aprilia.. etc.. are the real deal, the originals.

I'm surprised they (Harley) are going this route, but it's about time.

I didn't mention Gold Wings because it's a given you get your free lifetime AARP membership with every purchase.

Besides, Gold Wings are in a class of their own, with few competitors. AND it is the OTHER original American Made Motorcycle.

Not after this year. Gold wing production moves to Japan for 2009

US production is going to Civics and hybrids.

The gold wing is more like an Accord
