New kind of TV

CNET is showing a new OLED TV on CBS This Morning. Because it's OLED (Organic LED), it shows true black, increasing contrast and rendition.

The big thing tho, is that they salvaged 3D technology, and instead of viewing 3D, you can have two people watching two entirely different shows on the same screen at the same time.

Pretty cool.

Two shows at the same time? Hopefully they have headphones that can be tuned in to whichever show you are watching or it would be truly messed up.

Two shows? Using glasses, I assume?. If so, any passive 3D capable set has that raw capability. Not in 3D, of course, since what happens is that it uses the capability of showing two offset images to form the 3D to show two different 2D shows, and for passive anyway, where normally each eye gets a slightly different image of the same show, But the PS3, for instance, can with some games display a full screen to each person playing a two player game.

You still wear "3D" eyeglasses, so they put the audio with earpieces in the eyeglasses. To me this is a step backwards, because you lose the 5.1 or 7.1 audio capability when you split screens.

I was not impressed with the 3D tvs, Ill stick with my flat screen.

Which ones did you look at? Me, I looked at the active ones, the ones where you have to turn on the glasses, but found it wasnt nearly as good as the passive ones like LG. Still dont own one, but if I were, thats the tech I would go for.

They had a display set up at best buy one day. I dont know what kind it was but the glasses were uncomfortable and the 3d effects were blurry.

3D from a flat screen will always have issues. It won't be until they develop holographic free-floating images that 3D will come into it's own.

Sounds like the active ones, hard ot say for sure, the BB displays seem to vary with the wind. Most times, none or only one of the four sets will have glasses. I happened to get lucky one day when all four sets had working glasses, two were active, two passive (if the glasses have a power switch, they are active, while the passive ones are like the ones you get in a theatre) and had enough time to go back and forth.
