You're a LOON :)
I got a new camera a few weeks ago and the kids knocked if off the table wrestling around this past weekend and broke the lense

But this week I got an unexpected check so I went ahead today and ordered a new lense to replace the one I lost and I also got the 55-200 lense I had been looking at :yahoo: I ordered them today and they shipped today fedex so they should be here soon!

I think they will be afraid to get within 10 feet of it now  I actually had it sitting on the coffee table and I was uploading pics to my laptop. It only feell maybe 2 feet.

Congrats!! The D40 is what I just got. Love it so far and I can't wait to get my lenses in so I can start using it again. I checked on them and they should be here Saturday :yahoo:

I think I would have called the company on that one. You pay that much money for something you don't expect it to break that easily.

Uv filter

UV Filters will protect the front lens from scratches and dings. The 55-200mm lens will come with a hood for the front. Keep it on, it will break the fall of the lens front first into a hard object.
If you are interested here is a link to some of the pictures I have taken with my D40, They are not the greatest photos ever taken but I'm still figuring out the settings

Pookieboo!!!
It's much more delicate then I realized. What is a UV filter and what is its purpose? Something else for me to google

It reduces ultraviolet rays and sunglare. As far as protection, it's like a condom for lenses. Always put it on for protection.

This is why you use a filter
Seen here is the Nikon 70-200 mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Lens it sells for around $1,800 so I rented it for $37 a week. I was shooting the Demolition Derby when a car kicked up some rocks, and SMACK. I took off the Haze filter and dumped out the broken glass and put the filter back on and finished shooting the derby with no problems. I put on one of my filters till I returned it.

No, that isn't me, just someone at the right place at the right time. Also I caught the fact that the pic of the Orion Nebula was taken with the D40 but it was attached to my telescope without a lens (the main reason I wanted a DSLR)

You guys are making me scared to even take this camera out of the box when it gets here! :lmao:
