I was told by my mother-in-law that there is a new model/toy train store in Lenardtown or near there. Problem was she couldn't remember the details. Does anyone know an address, phone number or web site.

Thank you for your time.

:yeahthat: Yup, Sunflower's right. I have exercised uncommon self-control and stayed away so far. After today, though, (which will be spent in the train room), I may just break down and go "check it out." I anticipate a concentration on Lionel products, but I'm hopeful there will be plenty of other stuff as well.

Sidetrack Hobbies is the name. They use to be apart of True Value when it was at it's old location. Sidetrack more than just trains there to. Ad's have run in the Enterprise for the last few weeks (not sure if there is one in today's paper). They have a sign out by route 5 along with the Mattingly's and Texaco sign, but no sign on the building yet.

SideTrack Hobbies carries a full lines of Lionel O & O27, MTH, and Atlas O. We are always looking at new products to compliment our inventory. All products that we carry are new and recently manufactured. SideTrack is proud of its heritage and the long list of valued friends that we have made in the last 27 years.

Okay, then. You're forgiven for spending even a second looking at a Friday edition of the Enterprise. I hope you took it from the neighbor's box and didn't actually pay good money for it.

What is Mattinglys? I have not heard of it. Is it what Sidetrack Hobbies used to be called?

Thanks everyone for the input.

too late!! It's a moot point anyway til we get a basement, and a bank account that can handle sailing and model trains.

Mattingly's is a grocery store on Rt 5 in Leonardtown just before the hospital as you head north.

I went to Sidetrack yesterday and was disappointed. Basically if you don't do Lionel trains, you will pay dearly for it. The Marklin products they carry in HO scale are all German/Euro models that are extremely expensive, and the Trix Z-scale models are limited in variety and also extremely expensive. I didn't price the Lionel stuff, but I expect (since easily 90% of the stock in the store is Lionel products) that those prices are more reasonable. Bear in mind that Lionel stuff is pricey anyway and requires LOTS of room.

I went home, went into my train room (HO) and for the first time in years, ran trains for awhile. It was a very good object lesson to see my locomotives, which cost me 10% of the stuff Sidetrack is selling, doing a fine job and looking as real as can be.

Bottom line: you can do better than Sidetrack. I recommend online sources or Doug's (they can order what you don't see on the shelf, and it gets there quickly).

Theres one in Hollywood right on 235 north past Deans new warehouse :yay:

There is also a train place in Prince Frederick. Mike's Trains I think is what the sign said. Saw it on Wed. night. Heading south on 4, it is in the stripmall on the right after you get out of "dowtown" P.F.
