Pagers not really packed like a cell phone. I wouldn't be surprised if there was enough real estate that they didn't need to reduce the battery.

Yeah I know right .... a hand held Motorola .... the bottom or back half is battery
although I don't know what radios were being used .... I'm guessing something more professional
