I was treated to an impromptu airshow yesterday while hanging out in my backyard. There was a bi-plane doing acrobatics. It was pretty cool!

Also, Trooper 7 flies over my house all the time. I certainly don't complain about it.

I don't know how the furlough is applicable to everyone else's job but JSF and the aircraft that support JSF have different sequestration limitations. Our 8 hours can be taken anytime during the day and isn't limited to the core hours. Which is really kind of a moot point because we're authorized overtime and weekend work, just nothing on furlough fridays. And no, not 100% military. I don't know about government employees but contractors, depending on your contract and company, are working.

That makes way more sense than making mandatory days. I know my old crew is hurting because there were only 4 of us. Now 3. So twice a week there is one guy there. Guess what? They still want them there from before flights start until end. So overtime and 10-12 hours days.

yep, stuff like that is "making it hurt".

Those words ring hollow, knew they were BS when they were being handed out like candy, then finding out the cert flights and JSF get people OT, just goes to show what the words meant. If those flights were canceled it would affect one soldier in the field and wouldn't affect fleet readiness either.
Pilot re-certification could wait until furloughs were over and well, JSF could be furloughed as well - save the OT. But, it's a 2 star and he's not about to see his pension reduced over some little old budget issue.
