"... State officials are investigating the unusual outbreak – unique because of the rapid onset of disease, said Dr. Tony Forshey, state veterinarian at the Ohio Department of Agriculture, which oversees the state’s Division of Animal Health and is conducting the investigation."

"... What has been confirmed in one sample is something called canine circovirus, or DogCV, a virus first discovered in dogs last year. It’s the first case ever confirmed in Ohio.

Not a lot is known about the virus, but early scientific studies indicate that while DogCV, alone or in co-infection with other pathogens, might contribute to illness and death, it is also carried in some healthy dogs, so officials still aren’t certain DogCV killed these pets.
Officials: Risk low, but keep canines apart for now"

WOW...that's scary! The Doggie Flu is bad enough. Yet another reason NOT to go to the Doggie Park huh? Thanks for sharing.

Taking your pets to the vet can be an issue also. I had a cat at a vet office, and not long after the cat had an upper respiratory infection.

Sort of like how people get sick after visiting hospitals. Try as they might to disinfect everything, the germs are still infecting others.
