Santas warned 'ho ho ho' offensive to women

Wed Nov 14, 9:45 PM ET

Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."

A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

They won't. It's just as stupid as not saying Merry Christmas anymore. You have to say Happy Holiday or some such horse####. Even Christmas parties are being called "Holiday Party." What a crock of crap.

I can see with large companies having "holiday" parties, for the sake of not excluding the non-Christian folks, and December-early January is crammed with other religions holidays too. But its still a Christmas party- rose by any other name yadda- yeah I'm sure they use holly and tinsel for Eid.

But not saying "Merry Christmas"? I've had friends who were Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, and even a couple Zoroastrians (dated one) and not one was ever insulted by "Merry Christmas". They figure Christmas is just part of American culture. It's the PC types who think that being sensitive to another person's culture or religion means hiding your own that cause the big stink.

Heck, they celebrate Christmas at Hogwarts  (Didn't know fictional wizards were Christians).

Even Yahoo can't resist misrepresenting the US in its reporting

Looks like Yahoo News has joined the MSM in misquoting and misrepresenting their information. Here's the Westaff company's website. Please help me find the US-based recruitment firm on this map.
