LONDON — A British court has barred a man from having a dog for three years after his Labrador puppy was discovered drunk.

Matthew Cox had been drinking vodka and coke with his roommate on Aug. 22 when he left his glass on the floor to go for a smoke.

He returned to find that his 6-month-old dog, Max, had swallowed the booze. But he left the animal at home, and prosecutor Maria Moore told Nottingham Magistrate's Court in central England that the puppy was later spotted staggering and falling over near Cox's home.

Police were called and took the dog to an emergency vet, where it was put on a drip to flush the alcohol out of its system.

Magistrate J. A. Smith on Wednesday called the incident "downright stupid."

The puppy has since been given a new home.

I have to take all drinks with me in the house because my dog has helped herself to many of them. She's not particular either (I guess you wouldn't be when you also dine on cat turds when given the opportunity), cocktails, water, soda, and a particular love for coffee.

I had tossed the bag of kitty box stuff in the trash... few hours later I heard some crazy sound from the kitchen... walked in to find my GSD had knocked the can over and had chowed down on a clumped chunk... TILL

he found out it was now stuck to the roof of his mouth.. and in his grill (front teeth)

he had lips curled and smacking lips trying to get the litter to come unstuck from his mouth!!

OMG! I have to admit...This story had me cracking up!

My girl wasnt to fond of alcohol, coca cola or pepsi...but........put a rootbeer in front of her and she would lap it up like there was no tomorrow, then she would give her best Elvis impression with one side of the lip curled up. LOL Wished I had gotten a picture of her doing that. She also used to eat watermelon right off the rind. She was something else.
