My Grandfather did.

Luckily it had a flaw and came on for HeeHaw too.
Ha!..ours developed the same flaw! Even later, I discovered that if I arranged the foil on the rabbit ears just right, a grainy version of Dark Shadows would come on in the afternoon right after I got off the school bus and when I was spozed to be starting my chores.

That came to a stop when the old man discovered the TV cabinet was warm to the touch when he got home from work one day. Pop worked a full time job "in the city" in addition to the farm, to make ends meet. That's why our first TV was already a candidate for the Smithsonian when we got it.

The Great Frederick Fair ....where I first caught glimpse of a world out there that was far stranger than I'd ever imagined up to that point. (We didn't even get a TV set until I was 9 years old....a tiny screen in a big cabinet that apparently only came on when Lawrence Welk was playing...)
Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw were the only 2 channels my grandparents in PA got at that time..How I miss those days as a yound lad

At most of the local VFD carnivals, the food stands are run by the various first responder organizations and their auxiliaries. Way back when TPD and I were much younger the rides were operated by the members of the fire department.

Aren't they still run by locals? My ex did community service for a ticket and ran kiddie rides. This was way back though.

That is so cool mitzi! I did community service for reckless endangerment of a police officer at Project Echo in Prince Frederick! For a week I fed the homeless kids breakfast and played basketball with them, They called me Uncle Tony.

There is no way I am not destined to be your next ex!

It was a speeding ticket. Community service instead of points. Jeez.
