So we decided to try Norwegian Cruise Line for the first time. We are going out this fall on the brand new Breakaway ship. It sails out of New York and we are spending 3 days at Bermuda and 4 sea days.

Any recomendations of things to do in Bermuda? This will be out first time there and with 3 days we have a lot of time to experence different stuff on the island.

Oh heck no!! It's bad enough when I've got 2 days at sea. I couldn't imagine 4. :frown:

We are going in october, one day will be a beach day, but the other two days we went to do some fun excursions on the island. Maybe 4wd on the beach, jet ski, or are there some nice places to visit like old forts, ruins, etc.?

They're all nice and mighty expensive, too!

We booked a room that includes a lot of the spa, like the salt room, in the price. Plus I cant pass up a good massage while on vacation, even if I have to pay for it.

Good time to go. My grandmother owns a time share there and always goes in October.

Bermuda wont have a lot of "exciting" things to do it is more laid back (so no zip lining that kinda stuff)

Right next to the Dockyard there is a spot that does jet ski rentals. So it will be very convienent. If you like fish & chips there is a bar called the Frog & Onion Pub. BEST fish & chips I have ever had!

Most of the things to do on Bermuda however are outside of the Dockyards. Get set up w/ a 3 day bus/ferry pass and you will be good to go. They have some caves that are really cool to check out.

They have an unfinished church that is really neat. We checked that out on our way to Tobacco Bay. That is our favorite spot. It is in the St George area of Bermuda. Very quaint & quiet.

The best part of this itinerary (this will be our 4th time doing this particular one) is that you are in port for 3 full days. You come and go as you please. My husband brought all of his fishing gear and would leave the ship at 3 am to go fishing right there at the dock. He loved it. You can also hit the clubs they have. Bermuda is so safe I actually felt comfortable letting my teens walk around unescorted.

You will love it there!!!

I"ll post a few pictures for you :)

I don't like sea days. I prefer to be in port doing fun stuff on excursions. I can handle a day at sea, 2 is stretching it.

I LOVE sea days! If I feel like doing something they have a ton of activities to choose from...if not I can sit by the pool and have them bring me drinks & pamper me. That is living

1) Horsehoe Bay (Most Popular Beach on Bermuda)
2) Tobacco Bay (best beach on Bermuda IMO)
3) kids jumping off the cliffs TB
4) fish & chips
5) brew from Frog & Onion Pub

Thanks, we were hoping to do some clubbing in the evening, so I am glad to hear that. I will have to give the fish and chips a try. :yum: So grabbing the bus or ferry is a good way to get around?

Is Tobacco Bay the good spot to spend our "beach day"?

For sure. We went the first week in Bermuda our first time (usually same weather as Oct) and we were the only ones there for the first couple of hours. It was awesome. Horseshoe Bay is gorgous but can get busy as most people go there.

Usually we hit St George on the first day, sighsee a bit down town, hit the unfinished church, then beach/snorkel at TB for a couple of hours, then hit the original Swizzle Inn...the we swagger out and head home

The ferry/bus pass is around $30 per person (if memory serves me correctly) for the 3 full days. Taxis are outrageous. We took one for a total of 3 miles and it was $20 some dollars w/ out tip

Join Cruise Critic there is a forum dedicated to Bermuda and a lot of locals frequent it so you can get good advice and tips.

Wow - you really did turn in your man card! lol

When you are as beautiful as me, you need your spa days :diva: and yes I will turn in the man card for a good massage.

No problem! We love it there. It wont be as warm as the Caribean but there wont be beggers or pushy locals trying to sell you stuff. It is so nice there.

CC will also have an NCL board that will have info on the ship. Join your Roll Call a lot of people book private excursions. Normally I would reccommend the ships excursions but since you are on the island for 3 full days it is safe to do your own.

It's been a few years since I went to Bermuda; I was there 2 Easters in a row. I think it's one of the prettiest places - prettier than Hawaii - that I've been. It's expensive and British, so expect people to be more reserved. I stayed at Elbow Bay the first time - gorgeous beach and at the Princess Hotel in Hamilton the second time. Loved Elbow Bay Beach! It was my favorite.

Definitely a safe place - be sure to do fish and chips and definiitely Frog and Onion Pub. If you're into that sort of thing, there's an old fort on one side of the island that was fun to explore. Enjoy your trip! Save a little time for shopping in Hamilton.

Do they give free drinks in the stores like other islands? We went shopping on ST Marteen on cruise and I had drank about 8 free beers before lunch time, I was feeling pretty good. :otter:

Thanks for the tips, sounds like we are going to have a good time there. :buddies:
