Not viable anywhere?

We've all said it. Too expensive, not enough return on investment, high maintenance costs.

Can you imagine what the window washer person gets to do a field of these and how often they need to be cleaned?

Exactly those records should be available soon enough to anyone in the SMECO co-op....with that new array in Hughesville.

Seems like government subsidies cause a glut of manufacturers that flooded the market causing over supply making prices drop so now they need government subsidies to stay in business

They'll support 'sanctions' against North korea and, in exchange, we'll buy a bunch of junk from them at taxpayer expense and call it a diplomatic triumph for freedom and liberty.

Problem solved.

And you use those subsidies to avoid having to cut prices or costs or bonus's.

Like that one, huh?

That's how I know both Bush and Obama have used the price of oil as a geopolitical salve to get cooperation on things they wanted from Russia, Iran, others; it's sooo obvious. However, it is still cute watching people cling to their ideas that presidents can't do anything about oil.

Sometimes, I just sit back and look at the headlines. "War with Iran closer than ever!" and I think of all the people who have press friends and are looking to get off some oil contracts.

Still on the oil price thing huh?

Just can't figure out that oil is a worldwide commodity with inelastic demand/supply line and pricing well beyond the means of a US President to do a damn thing about?

Really amazing that people think the President can just wave a magic wand and make change the price of oil.

I feel like I should be paying you something. Would a 'thank you' suffice?

They call me ... Sarcasmo
 I can see the home version of this being managed by someone like my mom and dad. There would not be a neighborhood left to worry about.

Some one (ylexot ?) was talking about a backyard system a while back, fuel cell technology maybe? Home nuclear? Don't remember, but I do remember that it sounded more feasible than most things I've seen.

I think it was an idea about a reactor the size of one on a carrier or sub to power neighborhoods and small towns.

I seem to remember it being smaller...like an oversized a/c unit in the backyard.

If I get ambitious I'll look for it...

You dont understand because you dont think it through.
its true. The president can not walk up to opec and say, you have to raise the price of your oil by $X.XX a barrel and they jump at his command.
however,
the president does have the power to manipulate the market with war, threat of war, ,, ending subsidies, shutting down refineries and coal burning power plants, with EPA mandates that cant be met, threat of drilling,,, oh wait, threat of drilling our own might drop the price..
