After taking the spark plugs out and checking them, it is a really good idea to make sure you plug BOTH back in.

That's all. Full throttle got me to 25 and I'm thinking it was something hubby did to my bike. I even looked down and noticed it looked kind of wierd, but....Another lesson learned.

Did you notice gas spraying out the hole onto your leg?
No. I had the plug in, but didn't connect the black thing that attaches onto it. I heard a real funny noise though, and the bike ran like crap. I killed it in front of a deputy. I'll learn. It will just take time.

You should stick your pinky in the "black thing" to be sure it wasn't dirty inside.

works best if you hit the starter while your finger's in there
Heh

Hey Harley finally got smarter and put a safety switch so the starter will not kick over if the bike is in gear and the clutch not engaged.

I am an idiot, I am an idiot, I am an idiot.

I pull into the driveway and Tom comes out and I said "undo whatever you did cause it's running like crap." And he looks down and says "hmmm, maybe you should connect this." Off I went and it was running well. Actually, he had re-set something cause it was set on "high altitude," and it was running really lean. I will never, ever figure out anything mechanical. I give up. Thank GOD I didn't try to ride it over the bridge, though I would have turned around before I got there, given that top speed was 25. :jameo:

My bike won't start if it's either not in neutral or the clutch is not engaged. AND, as soon as I put the kickstand down if I'm in gear, it turns itself off. One would think it was idiot proof, but, apparently, it's not.

No. Just don't be behind me when I make a left. I'm real good at rights, just not so good at lefts. YET!

Harley has not had that until this year. I had not done it but I often wondered how many people "thought" they were in N and hit the starter button without the clutch in. Lurch, crash.

Even though my neutral light is on, I still pull the clutch in when starting, just in case the light is screwed up. One never knows.

I'm usually off of the bike when I start it. I let it warm up while I put my gear on. Worst  thing that I've done so far is to put it in gear with the stand down. Of course, that immediately kills it.

I get on it, pull the clutch in even though the neutral light is on, sloooooowly let the clutch out to make sure it's in neutral, then get off and get my stuff on. I really don't trust the light, even though it has never failed me.

I have taken off with the stand down  Heard it scrape and stopped. :banghead: Nothing more embarrassing than getting taken out by your own kickstand.......except maybe forgetting to take out the disc lock and trying to ride off. (I have not done that but heard of a guy who did it twice)

Yeah, I've heard of people forgetting their disk lock...I can't image what that's like. I have a Xena alarmed disk lock. If you get on the bike with it still installed...you'll know it.
