So, whatcha gonna do Dad...if there should be a grandbaby? Huh? Put her out on the street? Send her to Mommy?
I got pregnant right out of high school, married the father and raised my baby. Here we all are to tell the tale today. Teen pregnancy isn't the end of the world. Most of the time where it doesn't work is when Mommy and Daddy take care of everything and don't let the kid suffer the consequences of their actions and grow up.

....she'll stay at home, raise baby in an, if nothing else, stable environment and work at the greenhouse all night long with daddy, at the point of a gun if need be, with Granville II on my knee.
And what when the "I'm a grown woman and a mother...... hrumph" thing kicks in when she wants to do something and you say no?

What suffering?

If "they" were the only ones suffering I would agree.

...it ain't my choice that she chooses to rump bump with an unemployed psych major. It's life. Have a kid. Raise the kid. If you find, once the kid is 18, that you have something better to do than make babies, go for it.

So you are a better liar than a run of the mill regular liar?

Nope, not at all. There are things that aren't her business and if she asks and I don't want to hear what she has to say about it I lie to her. The downfall of being close to your mother... She gets WAY to personal and nosey. I avoid a conflict. She'll start giving me her opinion and I'll disagree and neither one of us is willing to waiver and it's ugly. Much more pleasant to just tell her what she wants to hear.

That was you..you were also a neatnik..

I just can't see Larry NOT helping his daughter..

I don't think teen pregnancy is the end of the world..but I made certain the teen daughter I was half raising had birth control.

They will be. I'd be disappointed and it wouldn't exactly be what I had in mind, but there are different paths on the road of life. None of my kids has ever failed to step up to the plate when I stopped doing it for them.

Her boyfriend is a nice enough kid - a couple of years older than her. I might be tempted to have a talk with *him* about the Rules for Dating My Daughter.

I don't think parents should have anything to do with their child's birth control. In the immortal words of my genuis SIL, if you're a big enough woman to have sex, you're a big enough woman to take precautions or suffer the consequences.
Hell, my daughter is 24 and when she comes to visit with her boyfriend they sleep in separate rooms. My house, my rules. If she doesn't like it, I'll show them both where the door is.

I haven't lied to my mother since I was a teenager.

That's fine. That's you and your mother. I didn't lie to my mother when I was younger either and it's probably HALF the reason she's so damn nosey today. Doesn't your mother live in another state? Mine lives in Waldorf. I don't lie to my father, EVER. I don't have to and amazingly my father and I have a much better relationship than my mother and I. I accept her for who she is and that I can't change her so I make my life easier by telling her what she wants to hear so she doesn't harp on me.

My daughter and her boyfriend slept in separate bedrooms when they were here. Shoot, when Larry and I were dating, HIS Dad made us sleep in separate bedrooms when we were all at the lake.
