Obama's Iran Nuke Deal

While Republicans refuse to acknowledge that Pres. Obama's nuclear peace deal is a huge victory for America, they also refuse to acknowledge that their beloved "St. Ronnie" was caught red-handed illegally selling weapons to Iran (and lying about it).

Have you read the agreement?

I read the White House summary. That was bad enough. It's quite clear that the actual treaty is worse.

Now, I've answered you, please answer me - what about Reagan makes this ####ty deal any more palatable?

How is it "quite clear"?

Iran has been a country full of terrorists forever. Giving them the capability to produce nuclear weapons is plain stupid.

"The Republican reaction to the Iran nuclear agreement falls somewhere between hysteria and apoplexy. But once in a while, some of them will admit the truth: they haven't even read the document they're condemning." (R. Maddow)

I keep hearing that. But I think it's like reading a restraining order. What's the freaking point if you know damn well at least one side has no damn intention of ever living up to the terms?

Crazy, right? I mean Iran is waging war and attacking its neighbors practically every single day.

Crazy, right? Because Irans neighbors are sooooo threatening, right? I can't count the number of countries that have sworn to annihilate them and make them a smoking crater....... why just the other day, there I was, in the regular crowd shouting DEATH to IRAN!!!!!!, and that was great......

Yes nonothing, I've read the doc, heard Obama speak on it, etc. etc. Do you really believe that Iran won't make a nuclear weapon just because they're afraid of our inspection process and any action we will take? Their leader is accepting this to get sanctions lifted and billions of dollars. Do you think they won't make weapons and hide them from us? But then what am I saying, you believe in Obama and everything he says so anything that comes out of the right, you don't believe anyway.

Oh, I must have missed this. It states in the agreement that Iran will under no circumstances seek, develop or acquire nuclear weapons. So I guess that must mean they never will and we should trust that they won't. :roflmao:

"It's a good deal because it slows down their nuclear program — which they say is for civilian purposes but could be used to make a bomb, and which we think was originally intended to make a bomb. And it puts monitoring and verification measures in place that mean if they try to build a bomb, we're very likely to find out, and to do so with enough time that we have options to do something about it. There's a verifiable gap between their bomb option and an actual bomb. That's why it's a good deal." (J. Lewis)

Neither Israel, India, or Pakistan signed the nonproliferation treaty. DPRK signed it, broke it twice, and withdrew. Iraq and Syria signed it and broke it.

Do all of these countries merit the same attention we are giving to Iran? If not, why not?

Well, lets start with the ones who regularly have mass protests chanting "DEATH TO AMERICA!!!!" :) Judgment, it's a thing you can do :) Keeps the list down a bit. I will note that all the above seem to indicate that reliance on pieces of paper to get some countries to not do things you don't want them to do is pretty silly. See the above post about restraining orders......

The deal was pushed so Obama could say he got it.

That is it's only purpose.

The Messiah got a deal with Iran. The deal isn't worth a dog's turd, But he got it.

I'm amazed you haven't ascended to the upper echelons of our diplomatic corps yet. You know a lot about geopolitics.
