A dear friend wrote the following in loving memory of her cat Tux...I had to share.
RIP Tux April 2002 - August 30, 2012
Tux passed away at the vet's office this morning. He had been living with an aggressive cancer for the last 2 months.
I will miss his arrogant behavior.
I will miss the squelching from the other cats that he so loved to slap around. I will miss the dogs barking because they are stuck at the bottom of the stairs, too afraid to pass Tux who loved to stretch out on a particular stair, flip his tail, and just dare the dogs to jump over him.
I will miss him climbing on top of my dresser, then scaling to the top of my dresser mirror in order to get into the window sill located up near the ceiling in order to look out at the squirrels in the back yard, even though there are squirrels in the front yard.
I will miss him sitting on the toilet staring at whoever happens to be taking a shower.
I will also miss him taking his paw and delicately patting you encouraging you to pet him.
Mostly, I know my husband is deeply sad and hurt and will forever miss his little friend, as Tux claimed my husband as his own when he was just a wee kitten.
Rest in peace, my friend. You were deeply loved.
