Odd that a full sized supermarket building in LT sits empty for years.

That road is FDR Blvd which has been discussed for 30 years and is now partly built.

30 years? Its been working so well, that I almost forgot it was there. :lmao:

In all seriousness, I don't have faith in the "powers that be," and even at my young age, I doubt that road will fullfill its purpose in my lifetime.

If these are the same people that approved the Route 4 - Route 235 intersection cluster with Wawa (or Sheetz...can't keep them straight). Then I weep for FDR.

You're all F'in Mad...
Transportation Plan calls for a Diamond Interchange at Route 4/235. The next BOCC will be the ones who figure out who pays that bill.

We're screwed.

The basic diamond (left) is often the design of choice for lower-traffic interchanges without special constraints.
It does not scale up well to heavy traffic on the surface street or ramps, or if there is heavy left-turning traffic. [snip]

Who makes these calls? The BOCC or a civil engineer?

And the wine and spirits side should be opening within a week or so...then think how much better it will be. The wives can get the groceries and we can buy half pints and hang out in the parking lot.:killingme

What I don't understand is why they don't build the road up. When I was in Seattle a few years ago they have several levels of roads. And it seems to work for them. Why can't that be done in Southern Maryland. Instead of buying up property to expand the road or building another road such as FDR and the bypass road they are building in Prince Frederick - build upwards. Anyone that wants to stop in the shopping area stay on the lower level and anyone who is just passing through take the upper level. This also eliminates all the stop lights. I think it would work very well on Rt. 4 and Rt. 235.

When I moved from St. Mary's to Calvert 18 years ago there were very few lights on Rt. 4 (4 lights- now there are 10)but as more people moved into the county and more commerce popped up the more lights that came into play.

I feel that would seriously detract from the "small town" feel, and it reminds me of the "EL" in NYC, the elevated train lines. Not a very nice picture in the long run.
