Prince William County in VA is attempting to crack down on the number of unrelated adults living in a home since many immigrants (mostly illegal) tend to live this way in expensive counties. It has more to do with them driving down property values and crime than the welfare of the children living there. If that were the only issue, I say leave it alone as the children are probably okay in that environment. If these neighbors are a nuisance (noise, cars, trash, etc.), call the cops. If the children are running loose and unsupervised in the street, I would talk to the parents or call CPS if it continues.
public urination :yay:

I understood that if the children are under the age of 8 they have to have an adult with them, even if they are playing in the yard someone has to be out there watching them.
Nope. The law is about being left alone. As a day care provider, even I'm allowed to let a child who is 6+ to play outside without me. Have to be in sight of the window, have to check up on them, have to know the kids well enough to know if they are the time to run off or otherwise get into trouble, etc. But that's talking about someone else's kids. If they are your own, those rules don't apply.

Yes there is a law about siblings of different sex sharing a room. If one of the siblings is over 10 yrs old, he/she may not share the same room of that from the opposite sex.
That's something that comes up when renting an apartment. The landlord can make up those rules. Also if the housing is subsidized, the agency can apply rules like that. If you own your home or if your landlord didn't put restrictions in the lease, you can do what you want.

When I lived in Baltimore County, there was a zoning ordinance about the number of unrelated adults living in a home. I don't remember what the limit was, but we called it the "no frat house" law. It could only be gotten around by having a place designated as an apartment or boarding house. That was a county zoning law, so it could vary from place to place.

The reason I brought this up was because of the other post about the autistic boy crossing the street.

I live in the neighborhood across from the main PAX gate...across from Roses, which is a rather trashy neighborhood.

These kids run around the yard all day, running across the street...which since it is a small street, really isn't that big of a deal, except with the massive number of adults at the house, they park their cars along the street and you can't see a 3 year old running into the street between two SUVs.

The problem is, I don't really know the definition of "neglect" now a days. I grew up in the back country and my parents let us freely roam and pretty much do whatever we wanted from a very young age. But now that I know the types of people that live in the neighborhood, I wouldn't let my kids leave the house, let alone run around unwatched.

If this is a "Your being dumb, just ignore it" thread, then thats how it goes... I just wanted to see what the general opinion was.

I understand completely. I knew of a lot of people growing up with a lot of siblings....its just the state of that house, the state of their yard, and the state of the neighborhood....kinda makes me cringe.

I think the general opinion on this forum would say "CALL CPS!!":sarcasm:

Yep. Or, rather, they approached me...when I almost ran over their kid in the street because the 3 year old darted out from behind one of their cars and I slammed on the brakes. The heffer of an old lady came screaming at me telling me to

"Watch where the #### I was going and slow the #### down" Mind you, I was going about 15 miles an hour or however fast you go without touching the pedal after making a turn about 20 feet away while dodging cars parked along both sides of the 2 lane street.

After apologizing multiple times and continuosly getting cussed at, I kindly suggested she keep her spawns tied to a leash.

:lmao: Okay, maybe my view has changed to survival of the fittest!:lmao:
