We went to visit friends in NC last weekend and we found her down there. She was very sick and when we drove home Sunday with her we took her to emerg. vet. She had eye infection, abcess, and coccidia (spelling?) She was only 4 pounds and now she has fattened up to 5 pounds. The doctor said she would have died in a matter of days had we not gotten her.

Hope her heart is okay....

Coccidia came come back on you...but you probably know that.

How old is she?

Yeah, we are taking her for her fecal Thursday. She is in our guest bathroom now to keep her from the kids and other animals. My hands are raw from hand washing. She was 7 weeks when we got her (I know too early) They took her away from her Mom at only 5 weeks. Ironically, the doctor said her heart was the only thing that was working good on her. They heard no murmurs (unlike Oz who had murmur from puppy days and you know how that turned out).

What a sad story. People talk about the tragedy of puppy mills but you experienced it first hand. I hope the one you visited will be closed down, but I seriously doubt it.

millertc - I can imagine how you felt...

ANYWAY... see if you can find some local rescues in that area, contact them and see if they have any other reports, news about this "puppy mill". They may in fact know about them but have been unable to do anything, it's possible you might be able to help them in some way.

Please do follow this up, contact animal control again and see what they say.

I wonder if you could post the info and we could all call to file a complaint. Puppy mills are the saddest things. I wish we could shut down the ones that supply the Farmers Market right here in Southern Maryland.

oh what a little cutie but my heart belongs to a boxer named Mopar so there is a soft spot for them. It seems like puppy mills form around boxers. My neighbor just got a boxer baby and she wants to have one litter before they have her fixed. She knows how I feel about it. I have a boxer that cost me alot of money because of health problems that would have been caught had the parents been properly tested. I wouldn't have left the puppy there either....

Yes, that is Maggie Moo. She looks so much better now. Those pics were taken Sunday. She is showing Beezle who is boss. They love playing together. She is a fiesty little thing. My other dogs run away from her because they are grumpy old farts. I take her fecal sample to Tidewater today****fingers crossed****. She has gained so much weight now. I will take an individual pic of her and post it.
