If you think about it, the other side gets enjoyment from killing people. Do you want us to be compared with them?

Sure... as long as there are less of them to be compared to. :yay:

Being as you say you're in the military, yet you list your location as "On the seventh level of Hell", I'm guessing you're not very enamoured with your current lot in life. I did 10 years in the military, and did a lot of forward action stuff as a contractor, and it is fun to shoot people, though not in the way I think a lot of people are taking these comments.

For example, several years ago I helped call in an AC-130 gunship that vaporized a drug plane and several people who were loading it. I even got to watch the slightly blurry long-range video of the attack. I was as happy as when I watched Ben Roethliberger throwing a TD pass to Hines Ward on sunday. Our systems were working, our process was working, and some bad guys were getting some payback from the Uncle Sam. It was great! Did I feel bad that seven guys got whacked without ever knowing what hit them? No... and I'm not the guy who said "Hey Jose, let's go move some drugs" either. They made their own graves and we put them in them.

Now that's a lot different from watching someone die in a tragic accident or natural disaster. Those people usually aren't asking for what happens to them, but when someone who's "in the game" buys it, I can cheer for that.

Baaaaa! We used to make sheep noises on an FF I was on when we stood in chow and paylines.....and they had a copy of the entire UCMJ posted on the mess decks bulkhead..couldn't help but read the thing or at least the more colorful articles....old joke.

I guess the "new Navy" has it's PC police. Then again I had shore duty once in 21 years (my last 4 and at the Pentagon) and hated going to schools or shore stations because the MAA's were always uptight. One of my guys almost got mast for walking on grass one time in Norfolk.

Anyways, support the troops, they support you. Thanks for your service.

Thank YOU for YOUR Service, Senior!! (from a former ET1) :patriot: :notworthy

You assume too much. First, I am very happy with my lot in life. I've done 8 years and plan on doing 12 more. Longer if I get a commision. "On the seventh level of hell" refers to my current duty station. That I am not happy with but have no one to blame but my self. I picked them, but Dahlgren, Va is just too remote for my tastes. I would without second thought shoot anyone that threatened me I don't care age, gender or nationality, but I would never enjoy it. It's something I'd do because I have too. I never want to be pictured as someone who has fun killing.

A man with that many stars should know that someone in the media is there for the sole purpose of warping his words. At that rank, he has no privacy anywhere and any statement indicating any form of satisfaction for eliminating a human life would put most candy assed reporters in a tizzy. I do think he knew what he was doing and knew the message he was sending to the world. Good for him. Suppose we had a bunch of Jimmy Carter clones running the military.

I take it all back. Anyone who gets stuck at Dahlgren deserves a lot of sympathy!
