Ok, I am convinced GEICO is a rip off !!!!!

I'm a very old fashioned guy and was first insured by State Farm in N.J.. Paid out the butt for it but at the time had no choice. Later had a friend that was turned down by Geico so will never use either again. I got turned down for credit with J.C. Penny when I was going for a high paying job and have never returned to their stores. Screw me once and forget about doing it again!

I never anticipated being in an accident, so I never had pause for concern.

There was another quote regarding 13 years experience in law enforcement too I believe. If that's the case, not anticipating being in an accident is like believing the next guy you pull over might not be some kind of freak that might try to shoot you. When you assume something, well... you know the rest of that.

I carry $0 deductible on my comprehensive coverage just in case a rock hits my windshield and I need to get it replaced. I carry a $250 collision deductible also.

I had a tree next to my driveway break apart and one of the limbs slowly fell down tearing the really nice car cover I had on my Camaro. I called Allstate (who I was with then in 2004) and they replaced that car cover under the comprehensive with $0 deductible. They didn't want to at first, but I told them that if it wasn't for that car cover, they'd be painting the car at a much higher figure.

I switched to GEICO just over a year ago and while I have the same coverage and deductibles I had with Allstate, I picked up road service and rental car coverage and I'm saving just over $800 per year.

me too, gotta love USAA and the refund!

I also have the roadside assistance. at less than $1 per month you really cant beat it. I have it on 3 vehicles and have used it 6-7 times over the past few years. saving $75/ tow i figure i am making out.

well that was an educated risk you chose to take. whose fault is that really?
you could have just as easily paid a higher payment and had no dedutable...

It's not the deductable I have a problem with. It's like having the book thrown at you in court, for a first time offense. ( and one that wasn't really your fault to boot )

That doesn't bother me. Honestly, they really aren't asking for a whole helluva lot more money. It's just the fact that they are asking for any money at all, that I have a problem with. Will I drop the deductable? Sure. Goes to show ME, that no matter how much of a good driver I am, even I can't swerve and miss a deer at 65MPH and not risk some sort of damage.

Hmmmm.... still pissed though. :coffee:

A thousand for a deductable isn't alot of money. At least for me it's not. I mean, I still don't/wouldn't want to pay it, but if it kept costs down ( on my end ) then I was all for it. Either way, I got burned, and it was my fault. Just pissed about my driving record and all this over a stupid deer.

But think about it this way too: Aren't insurance companies wrong for telling you to hit the deer? I mean, yeah, it's bad to swerve, jump the curb and crack your bumper, but hitting the deer, just to get some stupid fur on your hood, that's dangerous and down right wrong. You could REALLY lose control and hit someone else, hit a tree and wipe the car out, or kill yourself in the process. And for what, some proof that no matter what happened/happens, you hit a deer? That's irresponsible, and should be against the law.

Lets look at it from their perspective, shall we?
Is there any proof a deer was even actually there? You and your daughter's accounts, ok, but that isn't much. Who says you didn't do something stupid, hit the curb, and then make up a deer being there as an excuse?
Not saying that there really was no deer, but you have to look at it from their business angle

I hit a deer many years ago on a country road in upstate NY. For proof, the deputy and I went back to where it happened and we found some broken grill pieces. I also had deer hair stuck in the dented hood. I filed with ins co and I think it was considered an "act of God. " I do not recall higher rates or a deductable. It was a long time ago, though, and I may be wrong.

Maybe I should have grabbed the closest person's dog or cat, and threw it as hard as I could on the hood and the front bumper, repeatedly, and called that an "act of god". Think my insurance would go down? LMAO!!! :killingme

I was going down the road one day, and one deer jumped out in front of me. I had my daughter in the car and I swerved to avoid the deer. Now, I jumped the curb and caused damage to the front of my car.

I contact the insurance company and I have a 1K deductable. ( I have never been in a car accident ) They fixed my car and have now jumped my 6month fee an additional 300 bucks!!! BASTARDS!!!

In a vette', if I would have hit that damn deer, I could have killed my duaghter, killed myself AND totalled the car!!! But these &*cks wanted me to hit the damn deer!!!!! Are you kidding me?!!!!! Jezzus, what the hell!!!!!

I am going to kill that little fu&*ing lizard if I ever see him!!!

What up ?......:howdy:

I was with him when it happened. Stood there when they said " Sorry we don't know why it was taken out, but it's too late now. You are just going to have to deal with it" We were asked to leave shortly there after. And we went home and he changed to Geico since they are cheaper

You are nicer than I would have been! I think I would have had to contact the Insurance Commission and see if they could get an explanation for me. If they "don't know why it was taken out" then give it back!

Get rid of the Corvette and your insurance will go down right away. You will also be able to plow down the next deer that jumps in front of you, and not worry about your daughter's safety. Passing on the cat/dog fur comment.

As some of the others have said. USAA is the best. If you qualify, get it.

Trust me this fight isn't over with. I had to leave though I was getting a little out of hand. I could of punched them in the face and it wouldn't have made me feel better.

good for me

Geico has been VERY good to me. I've had them since I was 16, ay too many years now. My hubby had them from 18 on. We were and are very happy with them. No problems. Several accidents which they handled with no problems. Very easy to work with.

Sorry about your frustrations!

Oh and the price- if you have a good driving record- their prices are far below everyone else's.

It's 5 O'clock somewhere!
Definitely call State Farm. A deer hit me, yes, T-boned me, a few years ago. They paid for everything except for my $100 deductible and no rate increase.

...of course, they may have first tried to go after the deer's insurance company.

It's because you own a Corvette...

Now not to be negative about this whole ordeal but you stated that you could have killed yourself/daughter if you hit the dear. How fast were you going because I'm assuming it must have been at a high rate of speed. You said that money is not a concern for you so I'm confused as to why you are complaining. All insurance companies are different and have their own disadvantages/advantages.
