I checked that and it noted "This version of Stinger includes detection for all known variants, as of August 14, 2003", so that might not help. Do you if McAfee offer a new version somewhere else?

Don't need stinger or anything else anymore. I just wiped this badboy out this morning and have been reformatting all day. :bigwhoop:

How big is the drive??

It shouldn't take all day, you have more problems than you think if it is. :ohwell:

OH  I meant that I have been putting in all my software again all day. The actual reformat took maybe an hour if that. Its only 100GB, I am going to get an external and start saving the good stuff to that though. I have learned my lesson! :lmao:

Life is good!
The biggest problem with addressing Virus, etc. related problems is the user very seldom disables Windows System Restore! Today's Virus/Worms, etc. infect these Windows files. You can run your Virus clean-up routine until you are blue in the face. The moment you reboot - a Windows System Restore utility put certain key files right back. Guess where some key elements of your Virus/Worm, etc. are hidden? To be safe - next time you remove a Virus, etc. - do the following:

To turn off Windows XP System Restore:

NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the default Windows XP Start Menu and have not changed to the Classic Start menu. To re-enable the default menu, right-click Start, click Properties, click Start menu (not Classic) and then click OK.

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" as shown in this illustration:
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
8. Proceed with what you need to do; for example, virus removal. When you have finished, restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

To turn on Windows XP System Restore:

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Uncheck the box

If you only have one computer you need to do a system restore. The first thing you need to do so the restore will work is. UNCHECK the box in the Norton that says "turn on protection for my Norton product" Once you uncheck that box you will be able to do a system restore. If you have a second computer you can remove the drive and install into an enclosure and run the removal software, since the computer will not be using any files on that external drive for system files that will also work.
