Am I the only one who isn't offended by this and honestly couldn't care less? If Black people want to Jim Crow themselves, why do we care about that? And if a bunch of overpaid uneducated thugs want to hear their song before they get their little ball and play a game, what has that to do with anything? They'll all be dead of drugs or in prison in a few years anyway, so who cares?

Pro sports is so offensive and political any more that this shouldn't even be on the radar.

Now, I can play devil's advocate and come up with a bunch of reasons why this is bullshit, but I'm interested in what you all have to say.

Well for one thing it's a stupid song and is divisive. However, for balance . . . . . . Waiting for the anthem of "Onward Christian Soldiers" as the White National Anthem to be played at NFL games. Should be accepted with great enthusiasm.

If you strictly focus on the NFL I couldn't care less but I think it is indicative of far more than a bunch of guys chasing a funny shaped ball around. I didn't care about blm in it's infancy but look what it grew into. I also don't understand the incessant calls for unity that only require whites to make concessions. Can we have our own anthem too? How many anthems can we play before an event? Black, white, lesbian, bi, gay, trans, jewish, ad nauseum.

I felt much the same way about the whole Colin Kapernek fiasco. If the media had left it alone the whole thing would have ended up being that famous nothing burger you hear tell about.

I rather like a Christian National Anthem : "God Bless America" is to me a song that is beautiful and not divisive except maybe to a few atheists.
Calling any song a Black National Anthem opens the door for a Yellow national Anthem, A Red national Anthem, all of which are fine when being sung to Blacks reds and yellows, but not at a National sport occasion which all colors are welcome to watch or participate in.

It's perfectly fine for blacks to have what they call their own special Anthem and of course when they sing it I can sit down or kneel or just hold my fingers in my ears, butt hat is not the reason the real National Anthem is played before games. The National Anthem should encourage ONE NATION not a nation of individual Anthems.

Before you know it , with all of the Hispanics coming into America, and refusing to become Americans we will be playing "La cucaracha" before the game.

Not that I watch the games anyway and I haven't turned on a NASCAR race since drivers defended a man who saw a loop and called it a noose..
And then NASCAR only hires blacks for their diversity program. It appears they want to be the NFL of the race car industry

Well for one thing it's a stupid song and is divisive.

But if it wasn't promoted as the "Black national anthem" you wouldn't find it divisive at all.

Lift every voice and sing,
'Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on 'til victory is won.

If Black people wanted their own national anthem, you have to wonder why their overlords chose this one because it's not particularly indicative of slavery or race or anything else. It's certainly not patriotic and it's actually pretty lame. I'd guess some white Democrat massa came up with the idea to throw the blacks a bone, but it apparently was the NAACP that decided this lamer should be their jam. And having a "Black national anthem" wasn't a particularly popular notion. So I have to go back to believing white Democrat massas pushed it to pander - "See me liking Black people? Get them boahs they own anthem rightcheer!"

And who cares? They always play "All Star" at sports things and that doesn't seem to piss anyone off, so why this? If the media didn't tell white people to be pissed, someone would just sing the song and nobody would bat an eyelash.

I'm content to ignore things that are clearly trying to manipulate me into being pissed off.

I demand my Irish National Anthem before every game.

100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, complete with props for all attendees.

Game? What game?

There is a diversity hierarchy in the NFL & other sports. That diversity only goes towards 1 select group.

It's not the words that are offensive/divisive, but that it is for only one group, representative of one group, over that of a group present that represents a plethora of different people, doesn't matter if for blacks, or any other "special or marginalized" group, there is only room for one anthem. Besides, what would they call it if they just played it without a title? Please rise for the next special musical number? So without naming it, what would be the point of having it at all?

I don't care either as I haven't watched a NFL game, or any "professional" sports since the 1900's.

We have one National Anthem, Star Spangled Banner. It represents the USA as a whole. I, personally, always thought the "Black American, Asian American, Hispanic American" etc. was ridiculous. If you are a citizen of this country, rather born here or became a naturalized citizen, than, you are an American. Thats it.

I will care if every sporting event is preceded by 15 minutes of anthems for every culture that wants to feel special.

What was the movie where the sports team, to be "inclusive", had a pre-game blessing in the locker room by a representative of every religion imaginable?
