That was the only guy dressed like that. I asked you WTH was up with his "outfit." And I think you told me it was vintage BMW clothing. Or something. I was too busy giggling.

Wish one of us got a picture, but I don't remember.. I do think I remember the leather beanie helmet. the goggles.. leather pants..

I don't think the pants were leather, but they were tucked into his boots and were kind of "puffy''. I think he was also sporting a scarf. Or perhaps it was an ascot.

Well other than modern day riding gear, i don't think BMW has a clothing line, and definitely didn't in the 30's and 40's.. It was vintage riding gear, i wouldn't go out on the line and say it was vinatage "BMW" riding apparel.

You ever see the pictures of the bike(motorcycle) messengers, or the bike cops from the 50's and 60's? knee high boots, riding britches (puffy).. googles.. scarves flapping in the breeze... it wasn't just BMW riders back then, that's the way riders dressed, and some moto-cops STILL dress their cops in these silly outfits.. I think Mass still has the puffy riding britches tucked into knee high riding boots..

Yeah, it was a little chilly on my arms this morning with the mesh jacket. Saturday is supposed to be about the same. Good riding weather, but she'll have to bundle up a bit. Her leather chaps should help keep both of us warm :lmao:

How was Morton's?? Did you take any bikes out on a Demo Ride.. I REALLY wanted to go and test ride a K1200GT or RS.. or an R..

It was nice. I didn't demo anything because there wasn't anything that I really wanted to ride besides the GS that I'm already getting. Only other bike that I might consider would be a R1200ST, but I don't think they are even available any more :ohwell: Anyway, I'd rather go some other time for demo rides instead of doing the pack/group demo ride.

Got to see the presentation of the "Icon Award" to the guy with 1.4+ million miles on a BMW.

Didn't win any door prizes :ohwell:

My brother had a 1200LT in for service and they let him take out a new R1200R for a loaner.. he LIKED it.. Other than not very friendly for a tall guy.. but it was his first ride on a BMW twin (I think).

He took the K1200GT out for a demo.. merged into traffic on an interstate and couldn't understand why everyone was going so slow. Looked down and was doing over 100MPH.. he got out of the throttle fairly quickly and decided this bike was SCAREY smooth..

He's holding out for the new K1200LT (6 cylinder 1850cc).. but he has a wife too.. SoOOooo.. might end up with a Toyota Yaris instead..

I like my twin.. enough power to get up and go, but not dangerously fast or powerful, but still smoooooooth.. (and still better perfomance than any car or truck out there for less than 100k)

and the people that own the R1200ST love them.. I think BMW went a little too radical in the styling but the engineering is a solid winner..

I like the hexagon headlight (apparently, the major styling complaint) I'm just not sure about the seating position since it looks like a more sport-bike-ish position than the GS. I'm getting tired of leaning forward all the time...especially with a rider on back. Also, since it's not a hugely popular model (only one at Morton's was a used bike for sale), there's little-to-no aftermarket stuff for it.

True about the seating position. it's about the same as my RS.. which has turned out to be a lot more comfortable than expected on the long rides, but can't imagine it being comfortable on long rides for the pillion.

I tried the RT, and it has a nice sitting up riding position, I just don't think I'm quite old enough for an RT yet.. I still REALLY like the idea of the Adventure.. not many people tall enough to be comfortable on that bike..
